puma is infamous around these parts
inspection results

OK, i don't know why but i never received the e-mail so i can confirm and be able to reply, i found a way to create a new thread but i am unable to reply.

this was my first thread, thanks to those who took the time to answer

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...d.php?t=100431

anyway, this is the result of my inspection as far as over revs goes.

type 1 65535 1051.0h
type 2 555 1047.4

operating hours
1054,4

Does this look like a too much "agressive" driver? Should i be worried even if the car runs right? I am paying the car a lot below the market and the general condition of the car is excellent. Car has 35k miles, 2001 TT

I have read a lot on the forum about the over-revs and seems like 555 of type 2 can happen very quick if you bounce of the rev limiter a couple of times, i suppose if it would have been a bad downshift the number would be much higher...

For the rest of the inspection, i am trying to call the Porsche tech so he can explain me because there are a lot of number and i don't understand a single one of them.

If i don't answer to the questions you guys might have it's not because i don't read them, i am just unable to post...

thanks for any help

The first numbers are 'counts'... so five hundred and fifty five type twos.

The 65535 is high. It also happens to be 2^16-1. I read this to mean the counter is full and there are almost certainly more that that on type ones.

That is alot, IMHO. As I understand it, a flash that raises the redline will always add type ones if you then redline it past factory RPM limit up to the new, higher limit.

The type twos are low.

The last type two was 7 hours ago and the last type one was 3.4 hours ago.

Since there is no warranty, the only concern is 'is the engine over stressed'; and not 'will Porsche deny a claim based on this data'.

I can't say, but given my cautious nature, I'd rather be the the one adding all those type ones and not buying them already there!

Hope this helps a little bit...

PS GreggT...just bought my 996TTx50 from Madison 3 weeks ago!
