Question good price on full install of k40 radar?

I just got a quote for 1600 to do the full install on a k40 radar system. Is that a good price?

i paid $1450 in 2001, just looked it up. k40 360 degree included plate bracket in front and 3 led lights hidden mounted in dash. switch mounted on ctr console by right knee hidden.

i did later remove the plate bracket as i fly front plateless and have it hidden in the spoiler now..

$1,500 is a typical price. I have the K40 in my Lambo and get way too many false alarms. It's way sensitive but too many falsies. I would recommend very heavily the Pasport SRX. I'm having that installed in my new tt. I t gets superior reviews.

www.valentine1.com

$450 with everything
$50 at your local installer for a hard wire installation (uses electricity of battery rather than cigarette adaptor)
$0 if you wanna install it urself

Exterior v Interior Installation

I have a V-1 in my cars and an Escort in my wife's car and swear by the V-1. But, I have never heard of installing the V-1 outside of the car - in fact have been told it will not tolerate the influences of the weather.

i am not installing the v1 outside of the car. i am saying u would use power from the battery to power the v1 rather than using the dirty cord that attaches to the v1 with the cig lighter

I would personally go with the Passport SRX Laser is becoming VERY VERY popular now adays and that thing has the laser shifting capabilites. It doesnt stop them from getting your speed completely but it does drop down the range to something like a few hundred feet rather then half a mile away. gives you time to slow the **** down.

You can buy the passport laser diffuser separately. Ran a passport SRX next to a V1 for a while and no comparison to the V1 for radar. V1 had at least 1-1.5 sec jump on the passport.

At least in Boston it is my experience that the V1 falses a lot as well, almost as much as my K40 it seems. In fact I convinced one of my buddies to get a V1 and he wants to return it because he just can't take listening to the thing going off all the time. (I am not saying the V1 isn't a GREAT product, he would be annoyed by any radar detector)

I've had K40 systems in over 5 cars and it has saved my *** every time it needed to! IMO, not having an unsightly projectile on my dashboard is reason enough to go with the pricier installed systems....

And $1200 to $1500 is the going rate for a 3000SWL system plus a laser plate......
