Anyone have Conti 2's on there stock wheels?
I have the Pirelli A's all around on stock wheels. I'm looking for a quieter and more comfortable tire for highway use. The Pirelli's handle great, but ride like bricks and make a humming noise in the interior. They have about 8K miles on them and are balanced nicely. They also have about 1-2 lbs psi less than recommended. I am thinking about the Conti 2's or maybe Michelin Pilot S2's. They have to be "N" rated for Porsche though. PS2's don't have 225/40/18
How about the Pilot Sport Ribs? HELP

I can't say I have them on a turbo, but I have them on my coupe and have had them on my previous p-car (with same experience) and will tell you that the Conti SC2's are anything but quiet, good in dry, but I don't get much mileage out of them. I can't wait to wear them out to get rid of them . I am going to be running Yokohama AVS Sports...quiet, sticky, long lasting.
PS they are even more noisy on my new Kinesis wheels....argh!

Jeez, what a buzzkill
Now I have to steer towards Michelin?
Just got new wheels and they are comeing with AVS Sports supposedly they are the best all around tire. Buddy of mine's father has a turbo that had asymetricos on and they somehow riped from the inside of the tire, they put on AVS sports and apparently they are really good. His dad drives the car everyday too, so his judgement as far as comfortablity is pretty reliable

I had Pirelli PZero OEM on 02 TT and thought they were noisy, especially as they wore down. I won a set of Conti SC 2 and have had them for 3000 mi and they give reasonable wet/dry and handled better than slightly worn Michellin Pilot Cup on a wet track. Maybe I am biased b/c they were free, but so far, not a bad tire. In the past, the Conti's had a rep for chunking on the track and the Sport Contact were a little noisy. Clearly the SC 2 is an improvement. However, I think my next set will be Yoka AVS sport. I have heard good things about this tire. As for slicks--Pirelli all the way!
I recently switched from Pzero Asimetricos to 235/315 Pzero Rossos. The Rossos are quieter and less harsh, the car rattles less. Steering is more vague, but this may be partly because the tires are new, and I'm running lower pressures. Ultimate cornering G force seems higher with the Rossos. The Rossos ride stiff but much less harsh. Because the sidewalls bulge out more they may be less likely to bend or scratch wheels on potholes or curbs.

I didn't know the Rossos came in the Turbo tire sizes? Hmmm....
did a little research on the yokohamas. Turns out my mechanic absolutely hates them b/c they are so hard to balance. He didn't say why but he has dealt with all sorts of tires and really thinks these are a ***** to get the high/low to match the high/low with the rim and overall balance. Maybe a tirerack guru can explain this. There has to be something to this. the mechanic is outstanding. It is also interesting that Porsche only recommends this tire on the Boxster / (S), no other model.
strange coincidence-had a set of yoko 19/275 put on the bimmer n i notice that there was a patch of weights measuring 3" by 6" on the rear wheels.the guy who put it in mentioned that the yokos(brand new)were inferior n apparently they made them differently for different market?is there such a thing?
