Racelogic Traction Control.... Anyone use this??
This traction control system is huge with the Supra guys and other high powered RWD cars. Was curious if anyone was using this on there Porsche TT/GT2? Would this unit work with factory PSM? I am planning to purchase this for my BMW but would also like to convert my 996TT to RWD if this box will work. Any feedback would be great.

I just emailed their technical department in the UK to ask.
I think it would be fine on a GT2 but not sure on a turbo, even with RWD conversion, the cars PSM is still active unless you disable it in favour of a Racelogic system.

Just received an email back from Mike Broadbent at Racelogic here it is.
Hi Steve,
In theory, yes this would be possible. However there are a few things
that need to be ascertained first:
**The nature of the ABS signals - active or passive? Our system can only
read passive signals.
**Misfire detection - if your car's engine management has a misfire
detection system which puts the vehicle into limp-home mode then you
cannot use our system.
**RPM signal - modern cars such as yours often only have an RPM signal
carried on the CAN Bus. Whilst this is not insurmountable, it needs to
be confirmed as you may need additional equipment.
If you are able to confirm whether or not these problems exist I should
be able to advise further.

Very interesting, thanks for emailing him. Now does anyone know the answers to these on here? I wonder if 01's use a CAN Bus sytem? I know when I dyno there is a few wires to get the tach signal from.
I will shoot Todd K an email and see if he knows the answers to these.

I am currently building a 800+ rwhp 3.8L motor and am using the Racelogic Traction Control. Car should be complete in December. I will let everyone know how it works when we are done. Car is being built by Loren Beggs of 911 Design in Montclair, CA.

Is there any way that issue could be solved? How are others going to deal with that problem? Anybodies experience already with the system- say on 993 TT?
Todd is involved with the reprogramming of my engine. I will have Loren ask him what can or cannot be done with misfire detection in the stock ECU. I think we already have answers to the other questions. I will verify.
RL isn’t used that much anymore in the Supra community. A number of folks used it a few years ago with mixed results. I tried it a few years ago on a 950whp GT42 supra and it sucked. I uploaded revised sw via the yahoo user forum, talked to a bunch of people, and quickly realized the instant power band of Supra just plain overwhelms the RL. Maybe it would work better on a flat NA power band. But we quickly scrapped it.
Does not look like it will work. Unfortunately, I scrapped the whole idea and went with a factory Porsche RSR ABS race set-up and I am using MoTec traction control since I have converted my car to MoTec. Sorry.
