Angry Dealer overfilled Oil....CEL on

Man, talk about being upset ! I took my TT in for a routine oil change at 3400 miles (I know, early, but I am obsessive about oil changes)...I specifically told the dealer tech to keep the oil level between the marks....

driving along yesterday, and the CEL flashes and goes off and the message "drive to the nearest dealer comes on"

I checked the oil...it is above the top mark...in fact the entire display is solid !

I told the dealer about it today, and he told me that overfilling the oil is not a problem because it is a "sump system"

I talked with Ruf in Germany and they suspect oil fouled cats or a fouled MAF due to "oil fog"

Can anyone offer any thoughts on this ? Anyone have any similar experience ? I am hoping to resolve this with the dealer, so I will refrain from naming names at this point...

Heya RufMD, sorry about that. To be honest, when Kevin and Stephen came out here in Decemeber and I had discovered that I had paid $280 for an oil change that NEVER even happened, I figured from now on I'll just do it myself. That's probably the best way since they get lazy and/or don't take the same care...

What an friggin idiot moron!!! Probably had experience changing oil in a lawnmower prior to being hired as a Porsche tech. Yes you can overfill a dry sump system. I will never take my car to the dealer for anything that's routine maintenance, unless it's some electrical warranty issue. Even then, they will be working on it under the threat of death!!! You screw up, soil or scratch my car, I will kill you...

EDIT: The moron probably doesn't realize that oil expands when heated by the motor...

Can you tell this post just raised my blood pressure???

Rufmd,
why a 4 post instead of a 2post lift? do you need it for storage?

hey steve,

I am going to park an additional car underneath it...my four car is about to become a 5 car !

Plus, with casters, it becomes easy to move around....

Wouldn't the oil overflow into the intake have made a lot of exhaust smoke?

Absolutely agree! They are punching a clock and your car is just one of many on a list. No one will ever have the emotional and $ investment in the car that you do. I'm sorry this happened. I must say, though, that my service dept/dealership has the highest rating in North America, and I really think my mechanic loves my car.

RufMD,

Could you explain exactly what you were doing when it happened?

sure,

I was driving normally at 50 mph....

If I accelerate and past 3000 rpm or or 0.2 bar, the car hesitates almost as if it is in safe mode (? ECU )....

I have a feeling it is the MAF, but I will find out tomorrow....
