"No Tracking-No Racing" Insurance - does your policy say this?

There was a time when "driver safety courses" were covered by insurance companies, but that's changing.
My new Allstate renewal policy basically says I'm not covered for any claims(injury/property/medical) related to:
"- Racing Contest
- Speed Contest
- Use of cycle/car at a track or course designed or used for racing or high performance driving; or in practice or preparation for any contest or use of this type."

For those of us who track our cars the concern here is for both you & the "other guy" at the track = he runs into you or you run into him.

Last month I saw a guy in his S4 total his own car and total a brand new M3 in the same accident. The S4 driver told me that Amica auto insurance covered both the S4 and M3's replacement costs(I dont know if there were any subsequent personal injury claims).

At the track, regardless of the event's classification & regardless of any waiver you sign upon entering the track(these waivers only prevent you from suing the track), there is nothing to prevent you from being sued. So if you aren't lucky you could end up being sued by another driver/track worker/spectator for all your present & future net-worth. And your insurance company may not be liable for any of it. Chances are that most insurance companies will follow Allstate with the same clause.
6Speed Attorneys: I'd be interested in your thoughts/comments on this.

Uhhggg!!! What could be worse...lose you car and be liable for the other guys and his injury, not to mention your own if you have some...

Raises the question as to whether it's worth the risk tracking your expensive street car...

My insurance will cover one (1) DE, and nothing else related to the track after that.

One of the reasons I don't track my car.

Its funny that they will cover you if you drive like a maniac on the streets, but they will not cover you when you take it to a safe environment like the track. The insurance issue is the main reason that I do not like to track my street car... though I had to do it at least once. People that take their street cars to DE events need to remember that DE is not racing... no need to drive your car to the bleeding edge of performance and put yourself and others at risk.

I agree with that Max...but should something happen (your fault or the other guys) on a track and since there is passing allowed, the insurance company lawyers may contend that it is racing...It appears to be a real grey area in the insurance contract's legaleaze that varies from carrier to carrier...I guess the law of deep pockets applies...If the carrier's lawyers contest the claim, it will be up to you at your own expense to to fight it which can be very costly if the insurance company wants to stand firm on it's position relating to the matter at hand...

It still is fun as hell out there on the track. You can't argue that point!!

I would have to totally agree with that point...the rub is the ongoing battle between performance fun at the track and the inherent physical and or financial risk in one form or another...very frustrating to resolve, at least in my situation...

That it is... especialy in a dedicated track car. I had more fun driving this car with its full cage, fire system, 6 pt harnesses, and wide sticky tires. Don't get me wrong... Plenty of fun was had in the GT3, but the thought of driver induced modifications and the ensuing insurance battle tends to keep me from enjoying myself to the fullest.

Anyone know if State Farm is one of those companies that cover the 1 DE and no other after that?

Hey Ed. I was talking to my buddy with the other GT3. He tells me his auto policy is through State Farm and that they have coverd a prior track incident and will continue to cover for the same. Might want to check to be sure though. Perhaps I need to consider changing.
