I wouldn't do any mods except safety stuff and seat time. The car is great right out of the box. Definitely avoid R compounds for at least a year, learn on the street tires. Good luck and have fun.
Tracking your Porsche is a slippery slope that quickly becomes a dead fall

Again thanks for the advice and tips. So the consensus sounds like: there are plenty of things I can do in the future, but for now, get a belt clip and learn to drive the car as it is with PSM on, my street tires, etc. Our season is just about over- Mid-Ohio is just up the road and very easy for me to get to. So next Spring do new pads and brake fluid. My MPS2 are new. I can't wait to go back...

Doing some autocrosses wont hurt either, if I remember they are common in PCA Ohio

FWIW...I too started with a 996TT and did my first DE in MARCH of this year...I did every event I could get into and climbed up pretty quickely...the TT is a great car to learn in if you have the "drive" and can pick up subtle things that the TT seems to hide at times. Tom is right, momentum driving will be the hardest thing to learn by FAR as you will have the tendency to overbrake into corners and not carry that speed...the solution to that problem is very simple, but VERY hard to acutally do as it requires alot of experience, car control and well...*****... You end up just taking things hotter and hotter untill the car feels unstable through the entirety of a corner (that means your pushin' the gnads off the car if you are an experienced driver with smooth inputs)...thats when you have found the true limit and you always stay a hair shy of that point. That said, I dont think I could have learned any other way.

I think your setup is fine as well...but some GT3 seats, a rollbar and 6pt wouldnt hurt!

I second pads and fluid...Pagid Orange is a great midway pad and I would use something like ATE Superblue or Motul RBF600 for your application.

If I were going to get GT3 seats and rollbar and belts- where's a good source? My dealer?

Do have another question. Is it better for me to stick to the same track ie. Mid Ohio, whille I'm learning? Seems like I would improve my skills faster that way since I know the track.
