Considering 911Turbo purchase
Alrighty, I have some questions. I have been reading and researching the 911 Turbos quite extensively. I currently have a 2002 M3 Cab, and just the novelty of it has worn off real quickly. The owner of the dealership I work at has a friend that has a 2001 911 Turbo with only 5k miles silver with black interior. He had bought some rims that he had spent like 10k for and has the factory rims and tires with no miles on them. He was offered 86k wholesale and will be willing to sell me the car for the same. I just checked Manheim online and it seems to be the right money. What should I look for if I consider buying this car. I know it has no paint work or accident history. Are there any apparent problems with 01 turbos? Thanks everyone.
Hey man, I just picked up a 01 with 10k miles for 82K... I am also coming from a m3. The price sounds right, especially with the low miles and options. Your making a good decision, the car is awesome!
With 01s you got to look at the date of manufacture.
They started making 01s in March 2000 and stopped in August 2001. That is 18 months of production. At 5,000 miles there might still be buggs to be worked out.
You may or may not have a warranty on the car.

I sold mine with a Apr build date and 13K for 83,000. Sounds like he is a touch high. It also took 4 months to move at that price.

Just got my 02 Arctic silver with 14k miles for $87. Yours sounds like a reasonable deal. But consider some of the differences between 01 and 02- not much but at least have some ideas. 02- glove compartment, self dimming mirror, rain sensing wiper, standard BOSE, hollow wheels (late production in 01 also has them), no front bumperrets. Anyway, with 5k miles, sounds great! I just LOVE this car!!!. Puts smiles on my face everytime driving the car. Arctic silver is an AWESOME color!!!!
If you can swing it, having an M3 convertible and a 996TT is a good combination. For me, the 996TT is the daily driver and the M3 convertible is a great weekend car (particularly in sunny CA)--the trunk space is good for weekends.
