Those wankel motors are great for spitting out lots of unburnt fuel....especially if you run a fuel enrich program which I'm sure he's got. I remember in the early cars (80's) you could drive them along..turn the key off for a second...turn it back on and make a backfire louder than an M80...riot for scaring people...but then that was back in the day...I'm much more mature now.

 

my friends sti used to be running rich (not good) a couple weeks ago ago and he got those flames all the time

 

run the car rich, or put a sparkplug in the exhaust that sparks lighting the unburned fuel

Here's how you do it

 

My ex turbo use to backfire and shoot flames, I was with Tom (Topgun) and this guy pulled up next to us in AWE when I took him for a ride and was like " HOLY ****, I have never seen such a thing from a Porsche" not like that RX7 though!

Cat bypass pipes, nice free flowing exhaust and tune a little rich!
