Laser Interceptor
Laser Interceptor
In case you were waiting for the Laser Interceptor to become available in the US I order it online last week (10/30/07) and receive it yesterday. I had to be home to sign for it but other then that I had no issues. The link is below and also the link to Guys of Lidar for the comparisons of the different units.

It reads an error of some sort depending upon which gun is used. Most of the Laser Jammer units have an automatic shut-off after a few seconds: The idea being you see the warning and slow down while the unit is jamming. Then, as you drive by him at a more reasonable speed his gun can pick you up and its as if the gun were just acting up for a second.
According to all of the tests many of us have been following it is far superior.
Yeah, check out that guysoflidar test in the link. This gun basically prevented virtually all of the laser guns out there from getting a reading at all, no matter how close the car got to the gun. The other products weren't very effective once the car got fairly close (< 1,000 yards) to the gun.
Depends on whether you get the 2 head or 4 head version. The 4 head version came out to about $1,150 when you convert their price from British pounds to US dollars. That includes shipping though. It also includes their VAT, and you might be able to get that refunded by filing something with their tax service. I don't know how internet ordering works, but I know if you buy stuff in Europe you can usually get the VAT refunded by filing some paperwork when you take it out of the country. It is like buying stuff at the duty-free shop in the airport.
Laser jammers are legal in many US states, if not most. That guys of lidar website has a page that spells out the laws in each state I think.

I just got the 2 head unit and it was 329.95 which includes the VAT and shipping. I believe on my credit card it showed up around $650 (would change every day to the currency fluctuation) and a $6.50 service fee for foreign currency by my credit card company. As for all the hype on the unit I purchased it solely based on the performance tests by the Guys of Lidar. See the links in my original post. I am scheduling to have it installed next week however I am then putting the 996tt away for the winter as snow is in the forcast...
