Is it 4.1 sec?

 

ive seen 3.9 for a coupe and 3.9 for a cab in 2003 and ive seen 3.7 for an X50 and about the same for a GT2

 

and for the tiptronic ?

 

I've seen 3.6 for 6 speed (tip is slower)

 

Claimed by who? Porsche claims 4.2 (6speed)

 

I agree Porsche says 4.2 or 4.3 0-62 I believe. That's equal to the 997 GT3RS's. I had a 600hp Turbo S 996 that was 3.7 second claimed by Evo with $15k in mods. So mod your 996 or buy a 997 Turbo to get under that 4 second barrier.

And Tips are .2 or so slower.

 

Porsches official numbers are:

996 TT 4.2 seconds
996 TT Tiptronic 4.9 seconds
996 GT3 4.5 seconds
996 GT2 4.1 seconds
996 GT2 MKII 4.0 seconds

 

porsche is really conservative with their numbers though.

ie: the new 997 turbo for example. porsche claimed 3.7.
motortrend got 3.2 from the car and R&T got 3.5

 

tips are 1/2 second slower? That's huge. I think they say .3 seconds in 0-60 times are significant. Those soccer mom's really are slower then.

 

official numbers from porsche are fairly conservative. i like looking up the road tests in a road 'n track. or car & driver. anyone have their numbers?

 

Are those numbers 0-60 mph or 0-62 mph? Maybe they look "conservative" bcause they're 0-62?

Yes I believe those are 0-100Kph (or 0-62mph)

0-60 or 0-62 has almost no relevance to anything.

You must do a drag racing start (if you have a manual), and mods will not show
up much in this particular measurement.
