I replaced the 47 lb stock battery for a 15 lb Odyssey (PC680T) battery. I eliminated 31 lbs and it only cost around $300. The battery mounting kit is from Rennline and I highly recommend it over the Odyssey mounting bracket. The Rennline mounting kit does not require any fabrication. It took me 30 minutes total.

sdorn is infamous around these parts
Wow, that's a teeny battery. How long will it last? You might need to carry around two or three of them just in case they die!

I don't think you're losing much weight if you're carrying around extra batteries

RobertP that's a sweet battery. The specs on it look pretty good.

Thanks, I am sure it will work fine since several other 6speeders have a similar setup and it has a great warranty.

I will post the more details over the new few weeks. I only drive the car once a week so I should be able to evaluate its integrity very quickly.

Some say that this Tempest battery will hold a charge longer than the PC680, yet weighs the same. This is the battery that I am going to try...

Great battery but does it have a terminal connector that will work for your car? It looks like the terminals are too small.

No, the terminals need to be modified. The person that said it lasted over a week had a PC680 that would not hold a charge over one week. He got the Tempest and claimes longer storage life and no more dead battery problems. However, someone called to my attention that the PC680 has 680 cranking amps and the Tempest only has 300. I think the Tempest has 26 amp hous vs. the PC680 at 17AH. I'm not a battery expert and now I am not sure which is better...although if the real life, one week test is accurate, then the Tempest seems like a good choice. Can anyone that really knows batteries chime in with advice on Tempest vs. PC680?

It seems to be fine. I have let the car sit up to four days at a time and not a problem. The weight savings is well worth the price. A must have!.
