Alcantara Leather

I have recently updated my steering wheel shifter and ebrake with the GT3 Alcantara package. I would like to redo the leather or vinyl that surrounds the rear center console. Looking online has yielded nothing. I am hoping to find a durable leather or synthetic look alike, that is stain resistant and durable. Any ideas? I'm totally lost.

You have to order the alcantara color you want from Europe, then bring it to an upholstery shop and they can do it. There is an importer in florida who get the stuff. Make sure it's the Alcantara brand name....it's UV protected. Costs about 100 bucks a square yard. I just ordered some more of the material and am going to redo my interior....

I believe Alcatera is imitation and a more durable suede.

Alcantara is a brand name synthetic suede. There are many different synthetic suedes. I am not sure if furniture upholstery weight fabric will work.....but if it will, I can get about 500 different colors for wholesale prices. I deal with Novasuede and a few other very high end synthetic suedes, but again, I am not sure if they are usable for automotice purposes.....but I couldn't see why not.

I have recently been informed that Alcantara is treated diffrently than furniture grade synthetic suede. The Alcantara has much better UV protection, and is more resistant to color fade.

I am still looking for some help in finding a dealer. Any links or phone numbers?

Alcantara Porsche Packages

This is a bit premature but in light of this particular post I couldn't help but do a pre-launch for our newest line here at RSS. Next month we will be launching a complete "automotive grade" Alcantara Porsche Package for both 996 and 997 cars. Pricing has yet to be established but in typical RSS fashion it will ultra premium grade quality with very attractive pricing.

Kits include Steering Wheels (Both 3 and 4 spoke), Shift Boot, Shift ****, Center Console, Chrono Cover and in some cases door handles and E-brake and boot. We even offer our roll cages completely covered in Alcantara tailor made to order with your specs. Alcantara usually comes in "Light Black" but can be order in Gray as well. Stitching color is also fully optional, but Red, Yellow, Grey/Silver, Black, Blue, Orange and Green are the norm. Steering wheels can also be order with the ring in the 12 o'clock position on your steering wheel, like the GT3/RS. There is typically a core charge unless you are looking to retain your original wheel.

Attached are a few photos of out 997S house car that recently received the full Alcantara treatment. Note, the Alcantara here is the Grey color, not Light black. Thanks for all your time and consideration.

I'm curious about the prospect of Alcantra covered dashes....Alcantra has a suede texture to it......which is like putting a material on the dash....it would seem to me that the dash in Alcantra would be a magnet for all sorts of dirt, oils from hands etc. I know that suedes are susceptible to looking funky when any sort of dirt or oil gets on it. I would think that the dash would be better served in leather rather than Alcantra. The roof lines of the TT are done in Alcantra, but that's out of the way and doesn't get touched or stained. I would also question the feasibility of doing a steering wheel in Alcantra for the same reasons.

Looks very nice Fabryce!!! However, I have an upholstery guy down the street that has done great work in the past, and am only looking for a cheap way of buying the material needed. It's funny how hard this stuff is to find. A girlfriend of mine works for Mood Fabrics in NYC, and she can't even get a hold of any.
