Took out my back seat and got my rather large car seat to fit in the back of the Turbo. The passenger seat is also usable with this setup. I used the brackets under the carpets and the seat belt to secure it. My 19 month old daughter has a blast in the car, everytime I punch it she says weeeeeee!!!! BTW It's a Britax Marathon for those of you who want to try this.

I had two in mine a while back...we are into boosters now. Grab britax star-riser (sp?) boosters, the old one's that look just like Porsche's...they stopped making them and they can be found on eBay... I use just the base as the built in belts and rear cushions are perfect. Kids love it. All the new boosters are too wide. I tried a fancy belt harness gimmick...seemed too dangerous to me.

FYI only. I had the same seat you do and surgically removed the tilting base part and just made things really nice...no scratching of important leather if you will....dropped some height and avoided damaging the leather in my natural brown full leather car. I also bought some "seat protectors" from Baby's R Us that seem to have really helped. Also, I only allow water in sippy cups. Toys can play on carpet but not leather. They kids have been totally cool. Longest drive with four in the car: 2 hours. No issues. Nav/iPod and happy kids.

Oh, there is a latch tie down in the carpet in the deck (you can cut it and push it back together later....no issues, and what is seems was meant to be done BTW....you have to push/cut, but you can see the areas to cut in the carpet as it seems Porsche sort of did it already. I suspect they were more for racing harnesses, but I don't know.

Hope that helped if you didn't already know it all. If you did already know it all, no offense meant. The photo may be off, but the tilt looks too much for safety.

Your abilities far surpass mine. I had a ***** of a time fitting our Britax Marathon in my 996TT. The Recaro Young Sport was a better fit.

The photo is a little off. The incline is not as bad as it looks, took the pic after halfway removing the seat tonight and thought I better shoot a pic before I take it out. I pulled the carpet out and used the latch tie down under the carpet, otherwise it would never have been safe!!!!

Is it safe to use a booster seat and just the stock rear seat belt?
My son is almost 3 years old.

Thanks

Depends on the size of the child, the seat, how you drive, yada yada. I have, but I waited until my son was in the seat comfortably and could be trusted to no play with the belts, et.c 30lbs+ for me.

This is NOT an official statement. So, I do do it, but that is me.

Thumbs up same here

I used to use the Britax Marathon in my 996 Cab, and I now use the Recaro Young Sport in my 996tt. Despite being told otherwise, I never had problems with getting them in and securing them properly. A close friend of the family is a certified child safety seat installer with the local fire dept. and he always checked them out after I installed them and said they were as secure as it gets.

sfirestine and medici78:

Did your installs include the removal of the rear seat?

I have the Recaro Young Sport (just got it) and am looking for a way to make it fit in the back of the 997 but it doesn't seem like it can be secured properly without some removal.

Any more insights are appreciated.

I found taking out the lower pads to be VERY good thing to do for any of these seats. Your wallet will thank you. The pulled out in my car with either tape or vecro. I then put "babys r us" generic protector soft pads (no the hard rubber stuff) to protect and water/stuff proof the area to some degree, then the various seat went on top. Very nice, no wear on the rug, and my seat bottoms are safely stored in the house.

Nice to see others hauling the kids and the mail with 996TT. Soon I'll be doing it too but a booster is probably going to be what I'll use.

Anyone have some specific pics regarding "brackets under the carpet"? Either I'm clueless or blind, I've not been able to find what people are talking about.
Is there a difference between coupe and cab for these brackets?

I've got the car covered up and stored right now but next time I am out in it I'll shoot some pictures of the bracket. Most likely this weekend.

I also looked for the bracket and could not find it.
I then took it to my dealer and his boss and they could not find it.

I told them I think its there by law.
Now I use a Booster seat and the rear stock seat belt. He is 2 1/2 and weighs 37lbs.
I would have rather found the rear anchors!
