Reducing lap times for $1500

I still don't have permission to reply to posts, but I'd really like to join in the chatter. This seems like a really nice group.

I thought I'd offer a couple of thoughts about the best way to reduce your lap time on a road course if you have $1500 to spend.

1. If you have 4-8 days experience... the best use of $1500 is to get another 6-8 track days

2. If you have 12-15 days experience... the best use of $1500 is track tires. OK, that's more like $2000 'cause you need an extra set of rims. (You can get some used turbo twists for about $500-600.)

3. After that, it gets controversial as to what to do next. My recommendation is a rollbar and harnesses. It doesn't make you faster, but it is definitely worth it if you ever need it. Don't ask me how I know.

I think it does make you faster. lt gives you a sense of well-being if perhaps you push a little bit beyond what you did at at your last track day. Most of us don't want to push to the point where the car exits the track but there is a level of comfort with the extra safety items which, in my case, includes a HANS device.

1500.00 is spent really well at a professional drivers school like the Skip Barber.

It will make you faster-
It will make you safer -

Next I would do safety.
Seats- Harness's - Harness bar :

Spare set of wheels and tires
No need to chew up street tires.

Software on a 996TT Cheap power!

Suspension:

You will have already lightended the car by removing the boat anchor stock seats.
FYI They make great office chairs
