Trade In Value on 03 996TT?

What would you guys think is the trade-in value for an '03 996TT with 40k miles on it in very good, but not absolutely perfect condition (i.e. only 40% tread left on tires, a small scratch on hood that was touched up)?

Does anyone have access to recent auction data they can share with me?

I know KBB isn't the most accurate price in the world, but they show trade-in value on an '03TT with 39,600 miles in Good condition at $67k. I know that is a little high, but is it way out of line?

Haha yeah right. My 2003 18k miles and CPO till June 2009, aero kit, carbon fiber, etc. was valued @ 62000 on trade.

Well that isn't too far off, $62k is still not too bad. What would you think if a dealership offered $51k for the car I described? They are trying to rip someone off, right?

Of course they are trying to rip you off, what dealer isn't? That offer was from a land rover dealer. I knew and they knew damn well they were going to give me 62k for it, then sell it to some other dealer for 66k, who would sell it for 70 on their lot.

I would hope mid - 50's for that car.

That 51k sounds a little on the low side to me but not too far off. I recently traded my 2003 X50 with 30k in. Was in very good shape but needed the 30k service and new rear rubber and was CPO'd. I got 65k.

I just paid $4k for the 30k service, new brakes up front, and replacing a bad piece in the clutch actuator. It does need new tires, but that's it as far as maintenance.

I'm leaning toward just keeping the car. I really like the car. I had just decided I would prefer lower car payments so that I can save up for a bigger house closer to work. However, with the low trade-in value they are offering me I will be so far upside down I am going to have to make a huge down payment which defeats the whole purpose.

Realize, when you ask people on this board for the market value of your car, expect it to be low. 6-speeders do not fall into the same demographic as your typical car buyer, they are way too seasoned.
If you are looking to unload your car, do a quality photo shoot, write up a good description, and put it on Ebay (that will cost you $135). With the Euro so strong, many are buying US cars and shipping them home (I got above KBB last month on my 993).
Then theres always the first time buyer, the poor, uninformed, sport car enthusiast that might just be looking for your car......just waiting for you to say....."come on in".

I did do a quick check on eBay to see what 03TTs were going for. There were quite a few auctions that closed over the past 30 days on '03TTs, but not one of them was successful. Every single one either ended below the reserve or there were no bids at all.

I am in the market for an '03TT, so you should certainly PM me before you get raped by a dealer.

I agree with your assessment on the prices. I have been looking hard for 3 months and feel like I have a handle on just about every 03 available for sale in the country. LOL!

I came close a month ago on an 03 with 21K miles for $65K but didn't like the ECU data I got at the PPI. I just looked at an 03 X50 with 18K miles last week for $68K, but it had a little paintwork so I passed.

I think in general an 03 TT with<30K miles should still be in the 60's via a private sale, in your case, $60K is about right. So definitely go that route rather than trading if you're willing to put in the time. If you go much higher than that on the price, you will need to be very, very patient...and the prices are only going to get softer.

Good luck!

I have had mine listed for a while, 03 CPO with aero kit.. I have been low balled so many time its almost comical now. One guy offered me 58k CASH... I said yeah only if its all 100's and unmarked bills. It would be cheaper for me to total it against a brick wall and pay outrageous insurance for a price that low - of course that is fraud, but just saying it would be more financially sound. Some people kill me.

I have an 02 with 37k on it.. I was just offered $65k cash... passed. I would rather keep it for anything less than $70k... After all it's my dream car.
