exhaust opinions, need some input

hey guys, i have an 03 996tt, with a fabspeed cat back exhaust (loud) i am guessing.....just by the exhaust noise. i am looking to trade or possibly sell to get an exhaust with a little less rumble but not lose any performance associated with the fabspeed. i have heard a lot about europipe, milltek and fabspeed. i am not really that experienced with mods; the exhaust came on the car when i bought it. i am just looking for a slighly quiter ride. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

I bought the Europipe with the 100 cell cats. Not obnoxiously loud, but it is noticeable as louder than stock. What I like is that it runs quiet at 3000 rpm which is where you cruise on the freeway or in 3rd thru town. It will bark if you get on it. Go to the Europipe website. They have a spreadsheet that compares their product lines by decible ratings against the stock system. When I first saw the db ratings, it didnt' seem that there was much of a difference in terms of point spread, but when I installed it, it was louder than I initially thought. Europipe is a very well made system with welds that are art....downside is they are expensive.

I had to hold it in place while the other guy bolted it up...and I dont' recall it being much heavier than the stock one I took off. Unless you're looking to track it, I don't think the weight differential is that critical. If you read the questions being asked, most guys looking for exhaust systems seem to be focused on the sound.

I don't know if it's the same, but I just got a set of europipes for my C2 and they were a little lighter then stock. Maybe turbo's are different. But in any case, I love them.

If you want to save some bucks I would go with DGI/Maxspeed system. It sounds great and is a fraction of the Europipe. I have been much happier as well as my neighbors since I have swapped out my Fabspeed.

I have been researching exhausts systems extensively and have decided to go with the new speedtech/dgi exhaust. I wanted max performance, something lighter and louder than stock, and at least 200cell cats (since i live in socal, where there is stricter emissions). It's also less expensive than others. Hopefully, i'll have this on my car in the next couple of weeks- i'll give you an update.

I have the Europipe stage 1 quiet. I like it because its loud and aggressive when I want it to be and its barely noticeable otherwise. The power gains are nice as well. Good luck.
