What is your Gross weight? I can't quite make out the number from the pic.
If you position your car on the scale...it should give front & rear axle weight.

It's 3320.

Silvershark, looking at your front and rear axle weights confirms a concern of mine about your car and mine and other trying to reduce weight. Just taking out the Spare tire, etc makes the balance of the car worse, if you take out the spare and tools and remove AWD, you have taken 130 lbs out of the front of the car, add the battery and that's 150lbs or more all from the front. Heck, just weighing without a full tank of gas hurts it as well as thats another 52 or so lbs on a 1/4 tank. 200 lbs out of the front of the car

That is an additional ~4-6% of weight imbalance added to the car, and Im sorry but without raking the heck out of the car that cant be fixed with a corner balance, and there isnt that much weight to be removed from the back (straight pipes 50-60 lbs which hardly anyone does because of the noise, bumper support 22 lbs, rear seats and sub removal 22 lbs, rear wipe 3 lbs)

Just the AWD alone is an additional almost 1.5 % of imbalance. I have debated putting the spare back in just to get some balance back in there. When we start getting to 63/37 and 64/36 and 65/35, it's really hurting the handling.

seems like the best 'balanced' mod is to change the wheels. Check out the Dymag website: http://www.dymag.com/index2_e.html
They state that "reducing the rim weight has the effect of at least 5 times the static weight reduction". Save 30lbs on your wheels (50lbs if you go for really light wheels) and you have an effective weight saving of 150-250lbs.
Then go for the seats and doors which wont upset the balance.

It seems that rear wing and exhaust and bumper support are the 3 best options for cutting decent weight from the back (aft of the rear axel).

Seal Grey Matte, do you mean fixing the wing to be stationary? If so, I guess the effects of the factory turbo wing don't help much???

What about rear plexiglass? Anyone know about this?

I think the GT2 rear decklid and wing saves like 15-20 lbs. I really want a 997 GT3RS wing, it's sick and better functioning, but I need front downforce first.

Good points and you are right about that.
that is why I took the entire exhaust off, bumper off, wiper, sub, rear seats.
best I could do.
only thing left is two piece rotors and lighter wheels. maybe some carpet and sound deadening stuff but thats not much.

I wish there was a cheap rear wing/cover option that was light.....no "Porsche tax" if you will.....

If it was 500...I would be all over that.

There is glass.....if that is legal or not...to lexan. Not useful for me as my car is a dd and sees ices/rain, etc.

Actually I think Porsche quotes them all in the same area of 60/40 but once most people get them the lack of a full tank of gas has an effect and other things. I actually think the TT is one of the better ones because of the AWD in the front, but I may be wrong because there is a Turbo system and intercoolers in the back. But I would imagine it's always been better than the GT2 with the AWD, spare tire etc.

Front/Rear weight ratio

GT3 is 36.5% (F) 63.5% (R) see: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index...ter&f=3&t=1695

My 996TT is better than a GT3 at (F) 37.6% (R) 62.4%
Rear deck/wing weight reduction & rear bumper support should do it.
And remember we still have AWD traction advantage.

I think all the weight distribution percentages need to be calculated with you in the driver's seat. Those are the significant numbers. With a half-tank of fuel, my car is 38.1/61.9 without me in it. With me in the car the numbers become 39 and 61. I have the spare tire, etc out of the front and a 32# battery.

I have an X50 with tip. It weights in around 3550. I would love to lose 200lbs. Time to bust out the credit card.
