Rear spoiler question
How much was your Tech Art wing painted?
The wing retails for around $2200 I think, I got a little bit of a discount though. Paint was a couple hundred?
You could probably save yourself $1300 getting a knock off, I dont feel comfortable adding weight to the hydraulic lifters. There is a very noticable weight different between the knock off and the authentic wing when you hold both in your hands.
I think the stock spoiler weighs in at 5.7 lbs.
Authentic techart spoiler was a little over 6 lbs.
Replica spoiler weighed in around 11 lbs.
I think someone mentioned that you can get a CF replica on ebay somewhere and im pretty sure those ones are not as heavy as the fiberglass knock offs. If you want to save money and not worry about the added weight on the lifters this may be the way to go.
Hope this helps!

Yeah you may be right, I just have heard a few people having the hydraulic lifters failing over time because of a heavier spoiler they've put on. I don't want to have to possibly deal with that in the future.
I've heard others say they're concerned about a few pounds weight difference as well. When you consider the downforce at 77 mph when the wing goes up, do you really think a few pounds makes a difference? I would bet the downforce adds up to quite a bit more than the weight difference, especially on the wings with a larger surface area, which seem to hold up just fine.
My motors were replaced as well. And I have a big giant MASHAW wing. So you can infer that the weight of the wing was the problem, but I don't think so. My wing is CF and very light. You could say that it's the extra downforce due to the increased surface area, and I'd agree that might be more likely -- it makes sense that the motors would have to struggle to push the wing up at 77 mph with so much more surface area. But my motors have been fine ever since I got the new ones. My gut feeling is that the motors were screwed in too tightly before and were slightly out of alignment. I've come to this conclusion because I recently decided to mess with the motor mounts to bring one side down about an eighth of an inch (by shimming it with washers). After I did this, the motors became very unhappy. To get everything back to normal, I had to take the washers out and then tighten only two of the three bolts on each side. Lots of trial and error to figure this out. The other bolts are in, but only hand tightened. So my personal opinion is that the geometry is the most important aspect, not the weight. I could be wrong though.

elmel: That sounds reasonable, you very well may be right. I just figured at the end of the day, it's one less thing to worry about.
Topless: Only side picture I have is with the spoiler up. I'll take a shot for you soon.

The word 'replica' is the source of the problem. Techart does a ton of R&D before selling a product. Although Misha might make a nice replica, they still dont invest the time and money like Techart does.
Sorry to bug Aaron, but I'd love to see some different angles up and down as well.
BTW how are you liking your turbo? I remember the day you got it. Also what size are your champion wheels? 11.5? If so, you really should try some spacers and roll the rears.

Hey Ari, sorry I completely spaced about taking more spoiler pictures this weekend for you guys. I just got back from an awards ceremony up in hollywood. I'll take a few pictures tmrw morning hopefully and post em up.
Yeah I remember that day well too, it was great to share the experience with you guys since you can all relate. Im totally in love with the car, it's been almost a year and a half now and I'm still excited every day just to be around it.
As for the rims, im pretty sure they are 11.5. I forget to be honest. I'll double check.

I'm very surprised what is the problem with this TechArt spoiler....but then on some post the word replica was mentioned !
Quite misleading, like telling "Hey guys, my Rolex SUCKS...oh wait a min, it's a fake one"...

weird having a car I'm not dying to get rid of... definitely uncharted terriory for me.
if you have 11.5 and 8" champion rims you are a good candidate for my spacer setup below.
