Cool Top Speed Run...

OK, I did the top speed run today - empty motorway, no cars - safe to do. I am a bit puzzled… I have XP50, re-flash boost @ 1.1 bar and Cargraphics exhaust. I think I am good for 520 bhp at crank. Car pooled all the way up to 327km/h or 203 mph according to the speedo. Then exactly at this achieved speed I’ve hit a wall like a limiter of sort but revs were only at 6200 rpm just in red and still 500rpm shy of rev limiter. Just wondered why I pooled so strongly to top end and then simply stopped pulling 500 rpm short of limiter. Is it the final ratio of the sixth gear, turbos running off steam, power roll off at top end or simply out of power for a bit more. The car surged so well to top end, I felt there was more but something spoiled the fun. Ideas? Not that you need more then 203 mph but was just wondering… :-)

German autobahns are some sacred places for automobile lovers
Great run terminator but be careful when doing that, check tyres before and all that stuff.

Yeah. Same here in Sweden. They're really €nal about speeding here, just doubled all the fines for it. Just going 1km/h over the speedlimit gets you a €175 fine

You are right. I have brand new tyres but haven't checked them just before the run and once at that speed I thought to myself do I trust the tyres? I mean how long can you drive @ 200mph+ on Pirelli,s P0 Rosso? 10 mintes, 20, 30? Also what got me 2 back off quickly was thinking if I hit a bump on the road what happens; I mean bloody 747's take off speed is 200mph... Jesus...

Yeah I've thought that myself. Did a little higher speed run going back from town now (12am, two lanes, absolutely no cars at all!) and I started thinking about how much winter tires will last? You really trust the mechanics in your car at that point. Gives you quite the kick though!

Are you positive you didn't hit the limiter? It's possible you hit it and due to all the drag at that speed the revs dropped 500 rpm before you could look down and see what was going on. I did 205 mph and hit my 7000 rpm rev limiter. On a run to 199 my tach was something like 6400 rpm.

I thought we cut off at 6700rpm?

That wasn't the case with me. The car just sat there @ 203 and wouldn't go any faster.
