How satisfied are you with the Fabspeed exhaust, and if you were to repurchase would you select the sport or super sport model? Or would you consider switching to a different exhaust such as Europipe.

I switched from Europipe to Fabspeed of another version. I started out with a Fabspeed and ended up with it. Different taste for different people.

I have the Fabspeed SuperSport (loud) system. I have had it on my X50 for about 2 months. My use has included a 10 hour road trip and many short runs of at least an hour in duration. The car is loud, but in a good way: I want a sports car and not a GT. I think the sound is rich and full. As many people report, there is a drone at 2600 to 2900 RPM, but it isn't a big deal. All in all, the system is well built, it's priced right and it makes power with the right modifications to the car. To those who complain that they can't talk on their cell phone when they are driving with the Fabspeed SS, give me a break. The car when modified is for max fun; concentrate on your driving not closing some BS deal or hooking up with your babe (or should I say your mother).

I use to run the louder version and couldn't hear my boys in the back most of the time. So I started switching. After all the testing I went back with the sport rather than the super sport and was happy. There still is some drone, little IMHO after some of the exhaust I tested. I drive my car daily and manage to find a way not to hear it at all if I wish.

Everything is good except for the resonance at the 2600-2900 range. Sometimes after a long day the resonance is really annoying, at other times it is livable.

I guess the worst part is when you have passengers, as they aren't used to it and wonder what's wrong with the Porsche.

mklock: In my experience, if you are driving your car moderately, the sound isn't bad at all. You WILL notice it if you get into the throttle. If you're putting small children in the back seat, it may be too loud. But if you and perhaps a friend are just driving around town, I believe you would be fine with it. In fact, I like it. I don't disagree though with Stephen's view, the SS is certainly louder than the Sport version. But, I have to be frank with you, there are so many wonderful sounds with the SuperSport that I would personally hate to give up.

Anyone have metallic dust all over the rear of their car? Is this from the packing in the Fabspeed mufflers?

Bucking, Your analysis is right on. I too run the Fabspeed Supersport. When making the decision on which system to put on my beast, there was only one choice. This system offers maximum power with minimal drone.

Yah, fabspeed supersport here. I wouldn't change it for anything. I smile everytime I start up the car. Plus, when you wind it out, it really screams. It'll turn a few heads too.

I just switched over not too long ago and the resonance does not bother me one bit. The exhaust sounds awesome and does save a considerable amount of weight. Not that that really matters on a 3400lb car...but that along with GT3 seats, etc. adds up.

It's not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be...there's a little bit of resonance, but that's pretty much with any exhaust you get. I say go for it!!

I have seen about a dozen cars with the Fabspeed exhaust on them. I have one on mine as well. Every car I have seen has the entire back of the car coated in fine metallic particles. I am not sure why this happens, but something tells me that, if its the cats, then it's probably not such a good thing.

Since the 'dust' is metallic, make sure you rinse the back end off if you need to clean it. I wouldn't use detailer spray and a towel because the metallic particles will likely scratch the finish.
