Why NOT to buy from Powerchip

As most of you know, I got my car a few weeks ago. Prior to discovering the vast knowledge base here on 6Speedonline, I contacted Powerchip to get more info. They kept sending me emails and I finally politely explained to them that I thought there were better deals available as there chip is like a tick under $3k. Check out their condescending BS response....I love the reference to "beyond your budget" and having a "flat and boring car". If anyone wants to see my response, let me know. I gave it back with "interest".

Dear Jon,

Thank you for your email about your timeframe for getting more power and performance for your Porsche 996 911 Twin Turbo 3.

I understand that the price of the Powerchip is a bit beyond your budget at this stage.
However, we understand that the Powerchip is a large investment, but then again, so is your car and we know that you really do want the the best for it. That is why you have contacted Powerchip.

Even though the investment in a Powerchip can be quite a large amount up front, it really comes down to how much you enjoy driving your car.
The Powerchip is basically an investment in your driving pleasure.

If you do really want the best possible power and performance for your car, then definately the Gold 93 Powerchip is the best option for you.
Once you do have the Gold 93 Powerchip installed in your car, you can be safe in the knowledge that you have the best possible engine management program for that car.

So to make that jump from having a flat and boring car to really enjoying the benefits of increased performance, we have devised a simple payment plan that makes this step easier.

It is called our Split Payment Plan.

We have in place an alternative payment solution whereby if you have a credit card, we can "split up" the payment over 2 or 3 months to make the total purchase much more easier on your wallet.

This means that we can install the Powerchip in your vehicle and you can make the first installment of either half of the amount or one third of the total amount.

The final or remaining installments are then automatically debited in one months or 2 months time, depending on what plan was negotiated with your Power Consultant.

It essentially gives you 30 days interest free and make's the total investment more manageable, yet still allows you to enjoy the power and performance of a Powerchip today.

And remember, you can still take advantage of any other Powerchip offers.

To take advantage of this Payment Plan, call your Power Consultant today to arrange what plan would best suit your needs so we can ship the chip today.

Alternatively, you can order directly from our secure web site by following this link and clicking 'Order'-

Look forward to hearing from you soon Jon.

Kind Regards,

Joel Ayson

Here it is...

Joel,

The “canned†response that you sent borders on insulting. You mention your product is “beyond my budgetâ€Â. Anyone who drops $140k on a car isn’t concerned with budgetary constraints. It is a function on value. Upsolute and GIAC make “chips†that are much less expensive than the Powerchip product. You also make reference to my 911 Turbo as flat and boring. You must be kidding. Any car that runs 0-60 in around 4 seconds flat and tops out in excess of 190 MPH is anything but flat and boring.

Your response is better suited to the guy in the Honda Civic making $9 an hour at Burger King. Way to blow a potential sale....

A better response would have been asking me how to earn my business or better yet offering a substantial discount as an enticement.

I realized that, but it isn't a way to make sales. IMO its indicative of treating me like a number. That doesn't bode well with me. I like the personalized attention we get from the people on here we've come to know and trust. Like the bumper plug guy and Erik from Cargraphic to name a few.....

He should take a sales/ letter writing course....
An improvement would be something maybe like..." To the owner of the boring, flat car with no money...We have another option available to allow you more time to somehow come up with the cash over a few months. We'll take a down payment and then provide you the chip along with a list of ideas on how to get the cash....Steal it from family members, maybe a basic B & E from a neighbor just to name a few...." "We're the only company that not only makes the chip but also helps you losers with ways to buy it " Now that my friend is a letter

This is some funny ****.

But you have to admit, stock 996 Turbos are rather boring.

If they weren't, why would so MANY people here be modding them or inquiring to mod, especially with potential warranty issues?

This whole board is about modding and bling bling.
