Well lets say that if a 996TT could beat a Gt at the Ring, big deal, the Diablos chassis was designed in the late 80's. Compare it to the Murci or Gallardo.

What is sad is the fact that:
A. An old Diablo will blow the doors off a stock 996TT
b.10 years from now, the Diablo will still be the coolest car on the road, or one of them, and the 996 will have withered away to obscuredom.
c. 10 years from now, you can be in your NEW Turbo Porsche, whatever it may be, and an old Countach or Diablo will still be more admired than the Porsche.

I dont buy anything for what others think, just for what i think. I personally dont like the Ferrari, its rather dull, sort of like a Porsche.

Man, are you that insecure that you need people to notice you?

Looks like you spend all your money on old lambos and ferraris just so that you can say "I drive a Lambo/Ferrari" when people ask you what you drive.

Nice change of topic, I was just replying to the fact you said the stock Turbo was slow. If a Turbo is slow where does that put the Diablo?

And yes the old Diablo will blow the doors off a Turbo .... if you're measurement is a straightway to 180mph ... assuming the Lambo doesn't blow its engine on the way up there.

By almost any other measurement the Turbo wins.

I do agree with you that the Diablo is one of the coolest cars on the road ... but so is a 930 or 993 turbo too.

"10 years from now, you can be in your NEW Turbo Porsche, whatever it may be, and an old Countach or Diablo will still be more admired than the Porsche" - so your choice of car is based upon the admiration of strangers driving next to you?

Personally I don't care for that, in fact I don't want or like it.

I can't sit this one out any more. I drove the Gallardo 2 weeks before my new TT arrived just to be certain. I remember my wife calling me shortly after the test drive to see what I thought. She was surprised to hear me say that other than the "cool look" of the car I wasn't the least bit impressed. The TT just felt better in every way. The Autoweek article confirmed what I thought from the test drive. The car isn't as quick as the numbers would suggest. I think they ran a 13.0 1/4 mile. The car feels heavy and the build quality leaves much to be desired. The car is "clunky" compared to the TT. My dollar vote went to Porsche and will again with the next gen TT.

The numbers posted by Autoweek arent indicative of what the Gallardo can do, several magazines have ran the Gallardo head to head with the 996TT and the Gallardo always comes out on top. Ive driven both the 996TT and the Gallardo and i find the 996TT to be a better value, as its priced much less, but i much prefer the Gallardo. That said, i wouldnt buy either of them, but a used Murcielago instead.

Oh and those that say that they dont buy their car to be admired, yes, all those add on wings, spoilers, carbon fiber treatments, wheels etc, are meant to bring less attention ones self.

Yes, im sure everyone hates to hear someone tell you you have a nice car.
