Never go into a turn at 100% if youテつエve never tried it before. Build it up progressively, only then can you be sure itテつエs safe.

Doc/Dave:
Like you guys, I have not met Xico. I assume he is a professional racecar driver with extensive track time. Roger, I assume, is a NASCAR driver who has alot of time on banked ovals like Daytona! On WHAT track in the USA can you take a turn at 150/130/110 or even 100??????? Damn, I want some Motons on my ride!!!!!!!
I just hope that my wife and kids, or anybody elses, are on the same road with Xico when he is "accelerating from 100 to 130 to take a turn" in a driving rain storm.
Lets just hope, for everybody's sake, that this is one of the many "fish tales" you see floating around this forum.

Hhazrati,
The turn was a long broad turn on the Turnpike , not a hair pin turn. By the way I am not a profesional driver , but i have a tendency to add horsepower to a car when I am driving it, let's just say i have less fear than most people to drive fast , for lack of a better word (*****). I tried this on an open road with no one around me , I am crazy but I am not stupid. By the way Roger is not a Nascar driver but his team won the 24 hours of Daytona this year (Orbit Racing ) . Roger did the suspension in my car and if you are interested he can do your to for about $15,000. (don't call him for part #'s).

Just to be clear, I'm not the one who posted you must be a professional driver, or that Roger was a NASCAR driver. It was hhazrati. Do you think he was being factitious?

You're proud of being crazy?

I decided to accelerate slightly while straightning the sterring and the car fell back in line. I guess you can make a turbo drift after all , all you have to do is find a good puddle of water. Thank God for 4 wheel drive. Has this happened to anyone else.
Xico,

If the car already was in a slide like you described, the PSM would have automatically reduced your power by closing down the throttle body. It would have also been selectively applying the brakes to certain wheels to compensate for the loss of individual wheel traction.

You may have attempted to apply power, however you application would have been over ridden by the PSM. I am not sure how much control you actually have over the application range of your brakes in such a situation with the PSM. I do know your power comes down fast and you do not have any input over this factor until full traction is regained on all four wheels. That is if you have not disabled the throttle body feature. If you had disabled this feature and hit your brakes in a slide, I am afraid you would have swapped ends rather quickly. This is not intended to be a flame.

The more I read this kind of stuff, the slower I go....

Seems insane and rather selfish to drive that way on a public road.

Not to mention self destructive...

Come on, give the guy a break! He said he wasnテつエt stupid On a related note, why even own a performance car if you donテつエt use it? I agree that taking off in a turn may be a BIT crazy, but he already stated that the road was empty. So whatテつエs the big deal?

After driving Xico's car last weekend, I can tell you that its capabilities are so much higher than you would ever imagine. The car literally has race car handling, grip, and braking to match the power. I have never felt a car grip like this. It is confidence inspiring.

I personally have toned down my driving because I have 3 daughters and a son on the way. I still have my moments, but its been a long while since I hit 165 on the turnpike.

Xico is obviously responsible enough to know what he should and shouldn't do....He's still here to talk about it.

only because a computer saved his butt...and its obvious that he doesn't even know how (as per cjv's post)

I have no problem with him pushing his car or exceeding the speed limit, as long as its done in safe and reasonable manner with the necessary skill and knowledge. from his posts this doesn't appear to be the case... but i hope i'm wrong.

Does accelerating to 130 mph in driving rain going into a curve set off any alarms with you? That's not a big deal? What would be a big deal to you?

Seeming to be surprised that the car hydroplaned in those conditions?

Almost loosing it at 130 mph in conditions that have danger written all over them is a good way to use a performance car?

PCM makes up for A LOT of driver error. That's part of what we pay all that money to Porsche for. I am not here to pass judgement on anyone here. Everyone should lighten up. There are a lot more things to be upset about.

In the situation we're talking about here? You've got to be kidding.

There are a lot more things to be upset about.
I can't speak for the others, but I'm not upset at all.

I am not here to pass judgement on anyone here.
And what's wrong with passing judgement?

Xico sounded like a selfish a$$hole to me until he mentioned he made sure there was no one around ... then he made it into "crazy" category ... which is all good!!
I personally won't drive 130 under the rain ...
