How do you pronounce Porsche?

Ok, I posted this Poll over on rennlist.. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...d.php?t=408840

..and it seemed to evoke a lot of passion and opinions.

I pronounce it the "wrong" way, porsh.

How do you pronounce it?

I pronounce it the "Wrong" way also. It just sounds so pretentious saying "Porsch-a". Maybe thats just me. Then again when people ask "what do you drive", I just say a 911 Turbo.

It's Pors-sha.

Both of these are correct. Por-sch-a is the actual original 100% German way to say Porsche. But the English language does not allow for the "e" sound to create an "a" sound unless it has a hyphen like some spanish charecters (e'). So the gramatically correct English version is Por-ssh while the original German translation is in fact Por-sch-a. I try and say "PorschA, but I find myself saying it the other way all the time.

Depends what group of people I'm hanging out with.

The car nuts appreciate Porsh-uh while all others have no idea what the hell it is!

I disagree. It is someone's name, not a "translation". If Bach were still alive and he visited here, would you call him Johnny because his name changed as he crossed the Atlantic?

^^^^ +1

the only truly acceptable way is the real way. Anything else is just slang and only that. There is only 1 REAL way.

Vette and porsh would be slang
Corvette and porsche would be the right way.

Enough said!
