Modded Z06 VS Modded 996TT
LOL...multi-tasking at its best. Nice...!!
I will agree that a head/cam, cai, tune Z06 will take more than a 575-600 hp TT to beat. You are talking about 550+ WHP for the Z at that point. I think the terrible launching ability of the TT will never allow us to acheive the same 1/4 mile ET's (at least as easily). But you dont have to launch on the highway.
I/we shall soon find out...
I am heading to TX2K8 with my good friend "Atomic Z" whose car (07 Z06)
spent a couple months at MTI Racing in Marietta Georgia. His car is still N/A but
should be very strong and I would bet on it against most "turbo+Exh+tune"
996TT's. We shall know in about 1 month!

Yeah...I guess I did...John has decided to sell his Z...j/k...
Guess he wants to try something a little different this time around. I was surprised how well I did considering the extra HP he's pushing. I got the initial hit the times we played (he was ready for it though) but it took him awhile to go around me. Was all in good fun...YOUR NEXT...!!!!
Heavychevy - a Z06 with cam only/stock heads. 550RWHP is achievable with a mild cam, bolt ons and tune.
I run with a
I Ligenfeltter z06 w/600rwh all the time and my car is a stage 4 and he walks me after 3rd. From a dig i blast on him 2 car lenghts...the rite head and cam set up with a tune they are tough...They are also very light which is a major advantage...My brother has one also and he has me as well.I am planning to do some more mods to

You might have a problem if its fairly 'modded' C6 Z06 with a good driver. Pick YOUR race. Not sure where the 'sweet' spot is in the TT cars in 2nd. Try to stay around 45-50 mph roll. Anything around 60-80 in 2nd and the Z will flat haul ***...good luck and be safe...!
3rd gear 60 mph is the sweet spot for sure, the pull is endless from there with flawless shifts making boost stay on between the gears. Thing is most people don't know how to drive these car's properly! As i'm sure with the Z06's and most extremely quick sports cars!
It takes damn near 600 HP in a TT to beat a stock Z06. As you see, a modded NA Z06 takes a modded K24 car.
Don't i know about 600 RWHP in a NA Z06 though. A very strong modded NA Z06 makes no more than 620 engine HP... still astonishing a 3150 LB car. What mods does "stage 4" include in a Z06?
Agreed. Third gear will actually out accelerate 2nd with a shift to third in a TT. I think that spool between shifts will give up 1/2 a car at each shift.
The TT does have a huge torque curve advantage though and will do better and better as speeds climb and you have to really tug the higher gears up the RPM range after each shift.
This is why bench racing IS fun. Hypotheses built on data.
Anyone superimpose a TT / Z06 dyno graph? I' betting the TT has a flatter torque curve.
Anyone have a Z06 that wants to do some rollons in So Cal?

Are you saying you can consistently launch a TT?

I wish I could say the same. This car hates to launch.

I do not have a problem launching my car. When I run 0-80MPH against an LP640 Lambo that is clocked at 3.5 seconds (0-62), I am with him at the end of third gear. Also, notice in the second video (same race but another camera view) that the road turns away from me so I am traveling a longer distance than the other 600HP turbo and LP640. The video shows two shifts (1-2 and 2-3) we were going 97MPH and then had to slow because of the interection.
I have several friends with C6 Z06's and they are fast. For some reason, my Turbo S is quicker to 100MPH.
See video proof. Right click on the video and save to your desktop then view.

Absolutely...

EDIT - Can't find my dyno sheet after the cam install so here's one from another cam only Z06 w/ usual bolt ons / port work on the intake and TB (about 6-8hp) and custom tune...

5 Times he would pull ahead and the other times the Z06 slightly!!!!
Get me behind the wheel, and it would have been 10 outta 10 x pulling LOL, just messing with ya Steve, the car IS NEW to you though, gotta learn it inside and out.
BTW Ari, I have raced SC'd viper's, Vipers with nitrous (SRT 10 and GTS ACR) (all friends of mine from when I ran with the viper crew to tracks and so on) in my previous turbo, I would ALWAYS get the jump whether starting in 2nd or 3rd, and in a video you would never ever see my car bog back like 98% of the people who post race videos that I question, they shift so slow between the gears in the turbos that it de-spools the turbos and has to build back up, losing tons of momentum/distance.
2nd to 3rd pull right here, takes a while to get down ad its a tough shift but doable very quick!
