tt short shifter

I know this has been done probably to boredom BUT I have a 2001 TT and want to know the best short shifter to install. Any help would be appreciated. Also what should I expect to pay for the unit as well as installation and if anyone knows a good iinstgaller in teh Atlanta area that would help as well.

B&M is most common and should set you back about $160 for the install.

Get the B&M.

If you want to save some money (in other words free), I'll be glad to help you install the shifter.

Ditto..
I have the B&M in my Turbo (installed by Neil at Orton Performance) and it's great, performing flawlessly for 3+ years now (though NOWHERE near as tight as my GT3).

Give Neil a call for great service.

We had them made, a little tighter between gates then b&m. As for notchy, that mostly is from the cables being out.

I have the b&m too on my 03tt, got it from bumber plugs for 199 had the dealer install for I think 250. Much better than stock imo, but it takes some effort to get it into reverse, unlike my 05tts which came with a oem short shifter. GL.

I bought one and its on the way. How hard is it to install? Should i tackle it or
pay a shop? I actually bought the factory one from a dealer in PA for $330. All the
talk about voiding the warranty in 2nd gear pop out got me nervous...

Not hard at all, the most important thing is to remember is the adjustment of cables, its makes a huge difference. I have done 2, and believe me its not hard. One thing I will tell you is to make sure you clip the cable back in with the keeper....You will see what I'm talking about!

We made our own kit too... a little more solid with the shift linkage at a big savings over the B&M and factory unit. CNC machined aluminum, black oxide steel shifter, billet aluminum shift linkage to replace the failing and junk plastic unit. This is made in AZ not china knock off junk. Anyone want to DEMO one just PM me -

Regardless which SSK you decide on ... just remember to get a billet shift linkage ... otherwise, you'll be stuck some where since the OEM linkage broke ... and I speak from experience ...

I just went with the 997 Porsche oem ssk and am happy with the results . . . not as slotty as some others (had the evo3 in my m3) . . . not super short but just right to quick shift and yet still feel the throw of the gear to gear action . . . it's right in between typical ssk and regular shift distance imo
