Fuel system question
Fuel system question
I'm considering upgrading to the k24/18 setup. I know that I'll need a new clutch and fuel, however on all of the tuners web site they don't list or even show the fuel system sold seperately. Roughly how much coin is it going to cost me for a fuel system?

Hey Indy,
I believe with a custom tune by lets say EPL you can achieve great power gains on the stock fuel system with just a 5 bar FPR. this will bring you to the 600 crank HP range. When going past that u can start by simply adding injectors and possibly make around the 650bhp range. At that point your fuel system and more importantly your bosch maf will become an issue.

No fuel upgrades are necessary with the K16/24 hybrids and associated modifications (intake, exhaust). As Suman stated above the 5bar FPR is a good idea. It is cheap (can be found for under $200) and can be installed with no special tools in less than an hour. What software/tuner are you going with? And btw, I have a pair of perfect K16/24 turbos that I am selling. PM me if you are interested.
Bes thing to do is call Todd from protomotive. Unless someone with a PE700 kit want to disclose costs on Fueling kit? Im assuming you want over 700bhp?
S
Yeah that's what I was thinking. That is the turbo they sell right? I was trying to go as far without doing internals.
Hey Indy, if you are going to the 700HP kit the you will need fueling upgrades.for the 650(at1.3 and high octane) I was told you do not have to upgrade.

You can run the k24/18G without a fuel system, but you need the 5 bar FPR and appropriate Proto tuning for approx. 600HP or you can add the fuel stystem, which requires dual pumps (front rebuilt, plus a rear), the Proto MAF, Proto MAF housing (part of the Proto air intake and Y-Pipe system) for approx. 700 HP.
These costs are very rough estimates, but from memory..new 044 fuel pump=about $400, rebuilt fuel pump=about $300, injectors=about $550, MAf=about $300, there are new lines and fittings=under $100 - but now you need the Proto intake to use the new MAF and that is $3,000 not installed, and the Proto tuning=about $3,000 (first time, subsequent remaps are about $300). Labor to do all this is a few grand. I would say to plan on about 10-12K, if you already have the turbos and want to have all the work done by a professional...
Like Suman said, if you are seriously interested in this, you should call Todd for the exact pricing, but this will give you a good idea of the area you will be in for Proto fuel and associated intake/MAF....

INDY,
You start by running k24/18gs as you stated... just add a 5 bar as required. enjoy it then when you get bored you can always do the rest later...

MINE was $10K... so $600 injectors and $700 fuel pumps plus $100 fittings are that big of a deal. With that said, I get a kick out of it when we pay $4500 for an exhaust that's under ur car getting rusted....

I have the full proto fuel system integrated in the Evo intake...w/ intake and custom tuning by Todd (I got a discount since he did my original tuning) it cost 6K, not counting the drive to Arkansas. For GT28's it is a must have. For 24's you can go w/out it but your car will be much faster and responsive w/ it. I dropped my 60-130 time by nearly a full second.
Yes, with a V-Flow instead of the Proto intake system you can knock about 5K off the price. I did that first, but my car was not happy with the V-Flow /Proto MAF combination at idle, so I ended up doing the whole Proto system.
