Labor cost

How much should it cost for labor when they install a new clutch/flywheel? My shop says that they pull out the entire motor to do it right. They are also replacing the sparkplugs since the the engine is out. Price; 2100.00, sounds high.

OK. 160 an hour and some shops claim it is a 10 to 12 hour job. So it could be anything from 1600 to 1900 dollars. By the way, the car is scheduled to be worked on March 19th. Nothing has happened yet.

Am I missing something here? Where are the actual clutch parts in the quote above? I see everything but the clutch itself. When yuou add that doesn't this almost end up being like $3K? Don't see any plugs on this either (BTW, when I had my 40K service done on my Cayenne, the charge for the plugs was $16 ea...ouch what a rip!)

You don't need Pull out the entire motor to change the clutch.

Pull out the entire motor is for other changes.....like GT700... save your money.

I'm supplying the clutch. I got them down to 1200. That includes sparkplug and oil change. I am supplying all of the parts and oil. The head tech told me that they could do it without dropping the engine, but he said something about some small pins in the clutch that you have to be careful with. If they drop in to the clutch assembly and they don't get noticed, you could have a severe clutch issue down the road.

They do great work and are very thorough and the shop is operating room clean. I trust them with my car, they've worked on it over the last several months without any issues. Luckily, the new estimate came from the tech that is actually doing the work and decides the cost.

I wouldnt pay over 1K thats for damn sure. I did the install myself and just dropped the tranny out. If I can do it in 6 hours then any P-mechanic should be able to do it in alot less.
