Rotors - Who makes the lightest weight rotors?
I love it... I don't know anything about the board sponsor, But I've worked for over a decade with Coleman Racing, who provides a LOT of race teams their parts... Coleman also provides other Vendors with their parts, and has done it for decades. I'm sure this board sponsor is fine, But don't paint the picture that Coleman Racing can't support the need. Based on prices published so far, the quality of the parts I am personally using, I can't see how one is superior over the other, at least in the "front" brake department... I'll be on board with RRS's rear setup, but don't see the need to toss my fronts. And I still want to know the price of repacement rotors/hardware.

Woah woah, lets not turn this into a pissing match. No one on the board has tested any of them other than Mike so give them some time to get their reps up. We dont have any evidence that one is better than the other and time will tell which one is better for the money.
I would have confidence in either place going with their rotors and I dont think anyone is saying that coleman is insufficient, but the fact that RSS is a board sponsor and that sharky has a pre existing relationship, it's no surprise why he chose them.
So let's just get some brakes out there being tested on street and track and report back with the results and let the jury decide.

Still awaiting answers to my earlier questions about costs for replacements and hardware kits, becuase Dez guys like you and I will replace them much more often than others.

i'll take responsibility for getting the pricing squared away early next week. I too agree that coleman has a great reputation and RSS said so as well in my discussions with them. When i compare and contrast the products and service here is the key point of differentiation for me.
RSS has a rear solution with ebrake.
RSS is willing to organize a discount for a group buy.
There are other claimed differences, but at this point it is hard to compare the others until we can try out the product and be ready to go.

ok i got the prelim pricing today from Greg. He is going to start a new post (within the next day) posting his pricing and getting a group buy together. I'm planning to start the same post on rennlist for a group buy and we'll consolidate both into one area. So stay tuned....

I think I'm a little confused... The pricing quoted from Coleman was for front slotted rotors for the stock Turbo calipers, I believe? At $660 for the front axel, discounted - and available now? The pricing that RSS has posted for the not-yet-released Turbo fitment, is $2400 for front and rear, or nearly twice as much per axel.
Any chance a vendor wants to consider the Coleman offer again? =) I'd really like to dump these stock cross-drilled rotors, which I have cracking on after 1 PCA TT
. Going from the stock price of ~$430/pr to Coleman's $660/pr (with reusable hat) is very reasonable, but jumping to $1200/pr is not so appealing, unless it will last at least twice as long as the Coleman rotors.

I agree as well. RSS seems to have addressed everything except a competitive price, which is really the crux of this entire thread. My schedule is starting loosen up a bit due to the standard summer slow down, so if "Doc's Motorsports" can help let me know.
heavychevy and Mike....I also track my car approx. 4 times per month. My car with the GT3 calipers eat up the 997 rotors from Suncoast. I go through a set of front rotors every month and half or so. I would definitely be interested to see how the rotors hold up for heavychevy. I know he runs CMP and some of the same local tracks as myself. CMP is fairly hard on the brakes (not as bad as it used to be prior to the track revision), and I know heavy hauls ***, so I'm intersted to see how long these slotted rotors last.

Still, it sounds like your car will see about 3x the days on track in a year as mine - so rotor wear, not cracking, may be a more significant issue for you. Pagid and Carbotech compound descriptions:

i spoke to Greg yesterday asking him to post pricing. i am not biased toward RSS or Coleman. I think they are both a wortwhile upgrade. with that said i do think we need to compare apples to apples.
Coleman's product prior to discount is around $900 .
RSS's product prior to discount is around $1200.
So to me, that is close; however the RSS product has some advantages that makes it seem worth it to me (i believe in paying for value up to a point). Here are what i think of as the value differences (just IMHO)
1. coleman is only available in front. RSS all four corners keeping you parking brake working.
2. RSS product comes with a spacer which has been designed for added cooling benefit. The setup does become a floating roater.
3. RSS is willing to do a group buy discount, where Coleman will only discount to a shop. Meaning we need a shop to host (i.e. Sharkewerks).
The negative of the RSS product. It isn't available until ~3rd week of June (another month).
That is my analysis. I'm in favor of waiting for the RSS product. Their discount structure is likely to go around 10%, 20%, 25% depending on volume. Also the price for just the rotor discs is ~1/2 of the full set price.
What does the group want to do?
Cheers,
Boris

I thought we had gotten down to ~600 with coleman and the replacements were only in the ~300 range, which is still less than factory.
I'm all for people trying RSS as they are a forum sponsor, and I think we really need some people to try both for a comparison, but as long as RSS is a forum sponsor they should get the benefit of the doubt here.
When the group rates are available let us know. We still dont have a facilitator for coleman so they will likely end up being the same price with a discount from RSS except for the replacements.
