Ugraded Intercooler @ 500awhp ???

Anyone upgraded their intercoolers from K16 I/C to (Blown6 or Evoms) at this level of power (600hp crank) and notice a significant difference in peformance?

An upgraded intercooler at any power level can only help the efficiencey of an engine, but i'm wondering if anyone has seen any real life gains from an I/C at this modest power level and by how much ? I presently have K16 intercoolers.

Thanks

Difference in performance?

Better acceleration, better top speed? NO.

Lower temps, no heat-soaking and reduced wear at an endurance race on a hot summer day? Yes...

I went with upgraded IC's ( Blown 6 ) and I havent had much time to really see if there is huge difference Its winter here and havent driven it since the upgrade.

So no one felt a difference in how their car was running ? Mine is a daily driver not track car and I live in a cold part of the world - North East so thats why i'm on edge with this idea.

I will def. do this down the line to prolong the life of my engine and turbos but was just wondering if this would be a mod I would appreciate right off the bat. Guess not. Thanks guys again for the advice.

Surprisingly the stock IC's aren't as bad as many think.

Here is a logs from the dyno...one of the worst places to try to keep intake air temps down.

Intake air temps only climb ~ 20 degrees C or so....

Ramone

You are on stock K16s? If so, you don't have over 500bhp, and you certainly don't need larger ICs, save the money buddy or get a pair of used Gt2 ones for cheap. If your engine is heat soaking, that's because your programming is too aggressive.

GT2 IC's arent worth the money. End tanks are restrictive like the standart TT ones. Get the Evo ICs.

Hey Jean, long time no see

I will be fitting on the K16/G16 turbo setup soon which can run 600 crank. Want things to run as efficiently as possible.

Hi Ramone

I don't know much about the 16G but with upgraded turbos a good IC should help..Don't expect wonders though, most efficiency claims made on benches are BS, you need to measure it on the run.

Agreed. You can have my GT2 Intercoolers for $500 + shipping if you're interested. I paid $1100. They were used 1 season. PM me if interested.
