Turbos..

Hello there...What are the differences between k16/16g and k24 turbos?I ve seen k16/16g tuned to almost 600hp and also k24 tuned to the same hp...how are they compared?Does the k16/16g have a quicker spool up?HP limits?

so in order to do something with not great cost,it would be fine to make my k16 to k16/16g?The cost here is about 1300$ with full service of the turbos as well...On the other hand k24 will cost 3000$ and they will not be better than k16/16g...?

Skandalis447,

Like you, I've been looking for what is the best tune/mods and value for money and want to buy soon. You need to do your own research, and I would recommend talking to a few of the US based tuners (I am also outside the US) as this is where most of the expertise is and they can service you from outside the US especially if you can DIY.

From my research, the K16/16g solutions offers the best value for money for a medium power upgrade, but the tune is not as proven as it is new although initial indications are positive. It is a good thing to have a number of new tuners coming into the market with this product at a better value price point, as it will change the 996tt tuning marketplace for the better by making it more difficult for the older vendors to justify higher prices.

You will also need a software tune to go with the upgraded turbos, and you should select a tuner who can provide you with a tune specific to the hybrid K16/16g and even better to fine tune it to the mods on your car (eg. exhaust). IMO you should go with the tuner who you feel more comfortable with.

I'm assuming you are not able to get your turbo's modified in Athens? I have looked at using a local turbo builder but in Australia I don't think they are experienced enough (and also too expensive compared to the US options, especially with the US dollar being so low at the moment).

Yep. But you do need to select a DME/ECU tune that matches the profile of the K16/16G or get your car custom tuned locally. Don't just swap the turbos.
