perhaps you could find a friendly Techart dealer to hook you up with the Techart version of the PSS9 ?

so still no one has explained to me why it takes a shop 10 hours to throw on some new shocks. It sounds to me like some mechanics are seeing the porsche crest and bending you guys over. I just can't see what could make these shocks take 8 hours longer to get on and off than any other car on the planet.

offroadr35, depending on if you plan on changing out the sways and installing adjustable drop links. Along with removal and install and alignment, and if you want a corner balance takes longer than 2 hours. A competent shop with two guys will take atleast 4-5 hours. Not your average "shock", Pss9's are a coil over strut system.

i can see 4-5 hours to do shocks, swaybars and alignment, corner weighting, etc..

I have actually installed PSS9s on an S2000 as well as many other coilovers on many other cars and built and designed custom suspensions for offroad trucks. Removing shocks is always the same: unload the suspension, and undo the shocks. The only difficulty really is when there is something that needs to be moved in order to get to the top mount. This is what can make it a 2 hour job instead of about 15-20 min a corner.

Again, i really am just interested in someone tellin me why it is so difficult on a 996tt, or at least what shops have told them is the reason. I had a shop fabricate a fully custom link suspension including new fabricated shock mounts, heim jointed links, link mounts, etc for less than $1000

I heard on the 996 Turbo, they have to remove the front axles in order to do them properly...

I just installed my RUF PSS-9 coilovers today...the shop took around 8 hours total. And I know these guys weren't messing around or taking long paid lunch breaks.

The pain is the front axle...you must be very careful.

I've learned in the car business...it's better to be patient then do the job 2,3.4x over. Get it right the first time.

BTW, the RUF coilovers are awesome. I also put on my first set of Pilot Sport Cups and they are GLUE!!! I'm such a happy camper!!!

How's the ride quality? I'm very interested in the PSS9s, but I don't want the washboard ride that I've gotten with typical racing coil over systems. My old ITS car, for example, felt like it was directly connected to my spine. Not a bad thing when on the track. But, on the road (over potholes, bumps, and other crap) it would have been a real pain in the ****.

The ride quality is really nice! Not harsh at all... After picking up the car last night, I went around my favorite road construction areas and went over all the steel plates and pot holes I could find. It was very nice and not bone jarring or teeth rattling at all. Dare I say, more compliant than stock! Previous to the RUF PSS-9 I had the H&Rs...I like this system a lot better.

BTW, I have mine set at "3".

e-mail me or PM if you have more questions...
