I've seen the CLS in person and it is not a good looking vehicle. Mercedes has designed their cars lately to be more agressive and sporty in appearance (the new E-class is the best of this new design, as it appears to be a wedge of sorts with certain colors and 17" or larger wheels), and this one looks just wrong. It's curvy like an old Ford Taurus and the front mini-grill is straight up and down. I don't get this one.

Lexus ES 330 exterior , Jag looking "slab of wood " dash - the chick's will love it. Marketing showed the CLK, which was supposed to be their "mature woman" car did not appeal to women - too stubby. They also feel " safer " with the high sides and short side windows - a Lexus specialty.

Seats appear to have some really huge side bolsters.

I'm mixed on this. I expect the "_55" line on any of the Benzes to look hot, so no biggie that this CLS looks decent. Is it me, or it MBZ designing all of their cars to look very similar? The C class remodel resembles the E class. The CLK resembles the C class. The CLS is a mix, and I'm sure that the remodeled S will play on the same front lights and interior components. Seems that Benz is following BMW's lead: make all model lines look similar. Back in the day you'd NEVER mistaken an E for a C class, much less an S class.

On a related note, I liked my CLK (1999) MUCH better than the girly, C class based, new CLK.
