Straight Pipes for MEEEEEEE!!!!!!
+a million..
Positives:
Car sounds A LOT BETTER
Faster turbo response
Better throttle response
Power is A LOT more linear = better at the track/turns
Negatives:
Gets cops attention QUICK

I honestly think its faster. I raced an e55 amg modded with my stock exhaust and i puled on him 'slowly' up top on every gear. When i got straight pipes, the beast just ate him up top...no comparison.
When my friends are following me in another vehicle, and i go WOT and shift at 6500 rpm you just see their big smile in my rear view mirror, with compliments of god damn you car sounds fuken great when you wind those rpms up.

No cats = more fuel burn??
Hi guys, I've been searching all over this site to see if I could find the answers to my issue because I'm not keen in discussing a topic that has already been discussed. BUT, I've found nothing and well.. here it is:
I got my 996TT about a year ago and one of the first things I did, was to empty the cats and to open the stock mufler and empty that too
The results were great (except for the cel light) a more responsive car and more noise.
BUT, my engine *prior* to making any changes to the cats and exhaust had a little miss at around 1500 rpm, so I took it in to the local Porsche dealer and asked them to diagnose.
I knew they wouldn't be able to find the problem, because more often than not, they are not hard core mechanics, these days they ask the PIWIS (or other test equipment) what's worng and then all they do is swap the parts..but there was nobody else I could turn to so..
ANYWAY, their reason for not being able to find the fault is because I had emptied the cats, they said, 1st put back the cats and then bring the car back to us. I argued this point and didn't really care about their opinion - after all, I was getting more power lol BUT, one interesting thing that was said by the mechanic is that the computer was giving the engine tons more fuel because the sensors didn't have a cat in between them, which meant that the computer was compensating for this problem by adding more fuel!
At the time, I didn't really care because I figured it was the price to pay for extra power, however, since then, I've seen my car drop from 500km per tank down to around 300km lately! THAT's a 200KM drop.
Its not the cost of fuel that's getting me worried, but the damage that too much fuel could be doing to the engine - things such as cylinder washing etc.. and perhaps, because its running to rich, this is robbing me from precious HP.
Have any of you guys noticed this?? - any ideas on how to fix it??
SORRY for the long post, hope some of you managed to get through it without falling asleep!!
