I finished the Striaght pipes a little over an hour ago. Started shortly before 11. It should have only taken about an hour and a half but my exhaust screws were rusted and in that tight space it was a PAIN to get them off. Three little bolt heads took me 2 hours alone. But I had to have lost well over 30 lbs on the car easy.

After driving around the neighborhood I can say that they actually are more pleasant that the PSI at cruising speeds, less drone range. The PSI droned if you even looked at the car. They are quite loud, but I could creep around my neighborhood without feeling too bad. Under idle they arent bad at all.

I like them a lot, will need to keep a spare exhaust, but wont be changingback and forth often.

did the CEl make its appearance? I'm thinking about this too...... I saw a picture in the latest excellence magazine of the tubi exhaust for the 997tt, no cats and they did a longer spacer for the 2nd sensor, and they say no cel's ? It really would be nice if someone would make a "plug in the harness" deal to fake out the 2nd sensor.....

I know that straight pipes work but they sound so LAME.
You must hear my Switzer Exhuast at full tilt (like straightaway at Texas World Speedway) and minimal drone. With strt pipes be prepared for viabration, resonance
and general ear drum flattening...

Agreed Marty, they do the job for what he wants though which is track work/saving some poundage from the rear end. I agree with the sound..

Here is my RUF 590 coming down the straight, me only shifting at 6k instead of 7200 where it shrieks, have you heard a turbo Porsche with this type of note? I have yet to, except for 9ff!

That sound is very unique, and AWESOME!

Is Tym giving out sponsor support at the moment?

What are the other options out there for staight pipes?

Fabspeed, with 100 cell cats(price?)

AWE, without cats, $295

i used to have the electronic valve that went just ahead of the cats. opened up so it was straight pipes when i wanted it then when i drove on the street it was just like normal, no pressure from cops. only problem i had was when i first installed it they ran the wiring to close and the heat melted the wiring for the motor to open the valve. drove from vegas back to L.A. with it stuck wide open and wanted to shoot myself

I'm thinking of cutting the stock exhaust, keeping the cats and going straight pipes from there, does anybody have any feedback on this set up?

ya...just pay the 300 for the AWE pipes and be done with it so you can revert back to stock easily...and like I said, there IS something special about the AWE pipes, even if its not able to be explained "technically"...the pipes on my car sound far different (ya, that noticeable) than a set of other straights I had on my car...its really wierd...

Its pretty hard to get what I mean through a normal camera...but, Ill see if I can find the guy who got some footage of my car at VIR a couple weeks ago. Otherwise, I will try to have someone film something from Pocono next week. There are others who have heard our cars together, and agree that there is something about mine that just sounds better...its weird...
