You can put the OEM in, but it cost about 4-5 times what an aftermarket double DIN unit does. It's your money, but the aftermarket units out-preform OEM in every way.

Drool! Your carbon interior makes me WET! Without any question an aftermarket double din looks 10x better than OEM PCM. Oh and not to mention it works 50million times better!!!

I think its my next mod

Not only does it look better, it works better, It does Nav,DVD's Ipod with touch control, Ipod Videos and one of the best features is the flawless hands free Blue tooth cell phone. It uploads my numbers, auto connect and auto answers.I can also change the background picture and do a picture slide show. You can do a reverse camera, but i never bothered.

I just added an Eclipse AVN6620 to my 996tt. I'm having a carbon fiber trim piece made right now to provide a full OEM look, but I agree with everyone else here: this unit can be had for $900 and you can add ipod, hd radio, sirius radio, back up cam, and bluetooth. Plus it plays cds, dvds, and mp3 cds. (plus video output to headrest monitors, but not that you'd do that in a 911)

There's just no comparison to pcm which costs 4-5 times as much and doesn't do half as much. I bought this unit especially because all the buttons on the bottom are accessible without taking my hand off the shifter. Highly recommended.

I just order the kenwood DNX 8120. went back and forth comparing to the pioneer. I am told ultimately Kenwood is an easier install with fewer problems.

I just installed mine over the New Year weekend Very easy install (most "difficult" was actually modifying the bracket and mounting the cage). The 8120 is great so far and I have NO complaints. I got the iPod cable and am amazed at how easy and fast the interface is. One thing to note--when I first turned it on, the bass was deafening (not in a good way)--I finally figured out I needed to adjust the bass crossover and now I think I have it almost perfect (for me)
