Ordered my garage tile today

Got a total of 14 boxes with a coverage of 630 square feet. Armstrong Excelon Industrial tile 1/8 thickness 12x12. Went with a color scheme to match the house. Body color is light gray and the trim is a dusty purple. You can get at Lowes or Home Depot.

Total cost after tax was $404.00. One container of adhesive $15.02. One container of floor leveler for the seams $8.45.

Now to have a good weekend to empty out the garage and put the tile down.

Just figured I would pass this info on.

Exactly what I intended to do. Got concerned about thermal differences near the door (too cold for adhesive according to Armstrong), slipperiness, and overall appearance (a little cheap). Great price though and will hopefully hold up well. I went with Kiwi tile.

I have talked to quite a few guys on Autopia that have done this and they love it. One guy was up in the NEast and has had it down for 5 years with no issues.

Here are a few links to people that have done it.

The first link is to Brian. I have seen his floor first hand as I have been to his home a few times as he lives in the Tampa area. The floor looked as good as new when I saw it... We installed the Ruf SS kit on our cars in his driveway....

I plan on it. As I have not really found a complete how to guide out there I plan on documenting my install.

This is the same type of tile you see in grovery stores etc. I think it could be slick but no more than anything else. Smooth concrete floors can be slick to. Lord knows my epoxy floor is slick when wet.

Tiles should be in next week.

I've had mine for about a month. It was really easy to install, and replacing a tile is no problem. I suggest that you do it in 2 foot squares and start at the middle front. Also, to make it appear finished, the cove base adds a lot to the appearance. Again, very easy to install if you use the recommended (different) adhesive. I put 5 coats of Armstrong wax on it, also from Home Depot, and I don't think it's too slippery.

Does he work on the car in that garage or just store his car in there? Put another way, how well will this stand up to jacks, jack stands, etc.?
