Rubbing on hard launch?

Hi,

These days I notice that when I do a hard launch, I get rubbing (or at least what sounds like rubbing) at the rear wheels. I have running BBS Re-Mg exact same size as stock. I get it occassionally on turns as well, and a whole lot at track days.

Any guess as to why this could be happening? Suspension dying?

Thanks and cheers

Evader is infamous around these parts
What you are hearing is most likely wheel hop.

Wheel hop is when the traction of your tires is biting at the road surface and the suspension dynamic cannot sustain the pressure to keep the wheel on the road. Thus the wheel "hops" and you get a bouncing sensation accompanied with a tire rubbing noise.

Get an aftermarket suspension and slightly slip your clutch on the launch.....your car will actually be faster this way.

if you have stock suspension it is shot. very common for track cars up in years as suspension starts to go and car squats and dives and rolls you will get some rubbing as the amount of suspension travel is abnormal. Believe me I know.

Same size same offset ... so I am guessing it's probably not the wheel ...

Thanks guys, it's probably the suspension. Already got a set of JIC waiting to be installed once I find a shop who won't charge me outrageous $$$$.
