Hmm..
Well an X50 has K24s stock. What could I gain and or loose by doing a K24/18g setup.
ULtimatley id like to keep things simple and not go overboard which is so easy to do.. I like quick spool and low end torque, im not sure if the K24/18g offers this.
Finally being in NY, id like to have my setup be customed tuned versus a mail order flash.. I know EPL can do this, im not sure if Protomotive offers some custom tuning near NY.. Finally coming down to price, I know Proto can become quite pricey, and for close to the same, EPL will do the job probably at a better cost..
Any ideas?..

Your location says MIAMI?
K24/18g is simple turbos + tune + FPR (and exhuast of course). It is a turnkey
(Protomotive has the program/not custom).
Tony at EPLabs also has a good solution.
RPM in New York may have another solution.
Call and talk to the (3) above and see what trips your trigger.
Good luck,
Marty K.

I believe Proto has the ability to do e-mail custom tuning through their affiliate shop, Protosport in NJ. Friends of mine have been very happy with their results, although I've also heard that they can be a bit pricey.
As far as I know, Proto and EPL get their hybrids from the same shop, so the hardware will likely be near identical.
I will be having some work done at RPM soon, so I will be able to report on my experience shortly.
I'm partial to Tony and EPL from my own experience (excellent tune, excellent price, great customer service), but I couldn't agree more with WOODSTER's advice. I would definitely call each shop, get a price, and more importantly, see which one you feel most comfortable with after your conversation.
In order of speed of spool, from what I've seen (dyno results for each of a K16, K16/16g, K24 and K24/18g) they will spool in this order of speed: K16/16g, K16, K24/18g, K24.
A K24/18g will spool faster than a K24, and, with appropriate fueling (a very expensive and complicated addition to any build), will be able to get you to 700 crank hp (about the limit on stock internals) where as a stock K24 will run out of puff a little after 600 crank.
If your goal is 600hp, cheap and reliable, a custom tune on the K24 is a no-brainer. If you decide to upgrade to a K24/18g later, I believe EPL will only charge you by the hour for the dyno time to re-tune you. I think Proto has a very reasonble upgrade path as well. YMMV.

Excellent info.. Will save this post.. I havent heard of RPM, do they offer custom tunes as well and can you link me to their site possibly..
For now it seems, i may do a k24/18g setup, thru EPL custom tuned with an FPR and Injectors, etc... well see what hes got up his sleeve when the time comes....
thanks again for the helpful info!
BTW, I lived in Miami the last 3 years, now im in Germany for a year, and ill be moving to Manhattan come July.. I just got sick of changing my location, and I consider Miami to be my original and future home..
