EvoMS pushing 750bhp!!??

I am a major newbie to the 996TT tuning potential. I am looking to eventually squeese out every bit of power this car can produce, while still maintianing the ability to use it as a daily driver for street and occaisional track use... is Evolution Motorsport really getting 640-750bhp out of the 996TT with no driveability issues?? My mechanic told me that going this high in power is not reliable and the turbos will fail because they are not water cooled, and the ball bearings burn out.

I currenty put the FVD chip in my car, and was planning to go with a FabSpeed exhaust very soon, then upgrade to K24s... but from what EvoMS is doing, it looks like Garret Ball Bearings are required with GIAC software to make the car beyond the insanity mark... good God that is a lot of HP!!!

DAMN!!

No, I am not the man. I am just a poor simple power junkie.

My car has been at EVO for over 6 weeks now. Most of the delay has been for the body kit and waiting for wheels. All the waiting should be over soon though.

Evo Motorsports has a very good reputation from many of the previous EVO Porsche owners on this board. It does kind've make me leery when many of the other tuners (Techart, RUF, etc.) are putting in titanium connecting rods at around 640+ hp. As for driveability. Have you ever been in a 600+ whp car. Even one as nice as the Porsche ? Many of the the people on this board who had that level of hp had complained that as simple manuevers as changing lanes can sometimes be scary because the back end will start to fishtail. You definitely going to have to upgrade the brakes, transmission, suspension, tires on this car.

Of course I will upgrade brakes and suspension, clutch and flywheel, tires, wheels... etc. I dont think the tranny needs to be upgraded though. I am just wondering if I should be taking my car to EvoMS instead of where I just took it the other day to be tuned... if they are getting 750HP from their 996s with no driveability issues then I am very interested... However, I have heard that when you use the Garret ball bearing turbo's, they are not watercooled and they will overheat under this much load and blow out in no time. My mechanic tells me that going over 630-640bhp (i.e. using a turbocharger besides a KKK) will cause major issues and is not a good idea. Like I said, I am new to P Car tuning, and don't know if this information is completely true... he has been working on and racing P Cars for over 17 years though, so I would think he has some credibility.

I recently sold a heavily modified Z06 that put out 509rwhp on motor and 681rwhp and 741 rwtq. The best run was a 9.95 @ 145.

Brakes and suspension are being done as well.

What did the car run on motor? Was the rest of the power through nitrous I assume?

If you are really producing that much power your first and second gear is now worthless. In addition, don't expect your stock syncro's to last very long. You also better have changed your motor mounts.

That is F**King Insane fast dude!!!

Still, nobody has quite answered my initial question about whether or not EvoMS is really pumping out 996TTs with 640bhp w/o problems... is it possible for the car to make 750bhp and not blow up? That is crazy power... can the car still be AWD and not fry the front differential?

Sticky, It ran a 10.9 @ 132 on motor and a 9.9 @ 143 on nitrous.

Matt, I am not sure how to answer your question. I have not yet had a chance to even drive my Porsche with mods and I believe I am one of the first few GT 750s. Time will tell. I'll just have to trust EVO and hope if something goes wrong they can fix me back up again

Evo has 3 different clutch upgrades with level 3 a highly recommended option. I know several of the high hp owners on the board have upgraded clutches. I think you would destroy your stock clutch inshort order if you are pushing this kind of hp through it.
