Softronic ECU Flash with FREE Diagnostic Software
Hi Dan,
I'm still on the fence on whether I should upgrade my ECU from the GIAC to the Softronic. I'm leaning towards taking the leap, but first I have a few more questions, if you don't mind.
1. It is my understanding that the Softronic Flash adjusts itself automatically(?) when I put in 100 octane fuel to optimize the engine for this higher octane. And I presume it will automatically adjust itself back when I put in 93 octane pump fuel. Just wanted to be clear on this.
2. If for some odd reason, it seemed like my car ran 'faster' with it's original GIAC flash, would I be able to revert back to this flash, or will it be destroyed forever?
Thank you,
Dan
Softronic will give you more longevity as you modify your car because of their extensive map base and tuning capabilities. As you sit right now, just changing reflash, you may see a slight difference, but non huge effects like the first time you flashed it. Since Softronic pulls the last known file on your car, you could revert back to the GIAC one if you desired too. You are also correct about the fuel. The only difference would be if you were to use say leaded C16.
All 7.8 DME's have adaptive thresholds and the the 997/987 7.8.40 is faster. Depending on how the software changes are made makes up on how adaptive or versatile a map is.

Sounds good.....could you say that in layman's terms please?
Is there a big difference in performance for a stock set-up between softronic flash and upsolute flash? I read all the advantages you list but I am wondering if for someone doing just flash+exhaust if the upsolute route is a better value at $700. Let me know what you think
To my knowledge, Upsolute is chip soldering, not reflashing for the 996TT. Softronic is an OBDII Flash. Softronic tunes the ACTUAL lambda and timing tables individually for the best file to adjust accordingly. They do not do Global Changes. So Softronic will adjust to basic bolt ons such as intake, exhaust, octane. Many other tunes have to be adjusted. The only time you need to re reflash your ECU is for changes in fuel (injectors), cams, turbo size. Softronic also has an extensive database of maps for turbo setups like the K24/18G, K16/16G, GT28, GT30, GT35 turbos, and more. Custom tuning is available based off their Durametric Data Logging. So you can upgrade and have your car tuned as you go further with your performance mods.
no problem. i try to do my best for people in times they need help.
the special is now back to $1995 with the free FLASH cable. If you are interested in getting this for your TT, X50, or GT2, PM me!

The price is $1995 and includes the standard Flash cable. The Durametric cable is an additional $250. Sorry the special ended May 1. If you are not making changes to your car constantly, you dont need the durametrics.

Basically yes to your question. The ECU is adaptive.
