I plan to do my tranny fluid every 20 k miles. I just put a new tranny together to remove a future 2nd gear pop out from ever happening again...and I plan to baby it. 20k is overkill....I think, if not tracked. If tracked, Tom Kerr does it like very other DE event. Also, if you track, a tranny and perhaps even a diff cooler may be in your interest. There is a thread about one put in at S-Car-Go....and Tom Kerr has a cooler too. I spoke to the S-Car_Go types and they felt that for DE (20 minute to 30 minute sessions) at my level, the tranny cooler was overkill.

jleeev is infamous around these parts
Should the gearbox and fluid be warm for this procedure?
Also....refill level seems a bit vague.

Best,

I just changed mine, very simple. I also rigged up a little pump using the 1gal jug of gear oil, see attached photos. CAUTION: keep the air pressure you put in the jug very low like 5psi max. I drilled two holes in the lid; put tubing in one that goes to the very bottom of the jug, other tube end goes into the tranny fill hole. Then use compressed air at LOW pressure to pressurize the jug through the other hole in the lid. It will send the fluid into the tranny. It goes slow, don't be impatient and put too much pressure in the jug, even with 5psi it will bulge. Try to seal around the tube, caulking won't work but modeling clay did a good job. After about 3liters you're done, it'll start dripping out the filler hole.
