996tt vs Dodge Viper?

Hi guys.
Just curios how you think the outcome of a 2002 -996tt vs a 2004 -Viper would end.

Both cars stock.

I imagine the Viper will be quicker in pretty much every aspect of speed and acceleration.

Maybe if you're on some nice curvy roads, the Turbo will have an edge ...

how about a 996TT with hybrids ( K16/K24, K16/16g, GT660)?

My old 993TT got spanked repeatedly by my brothers '98 Viper. My TT was modded with k24's, ECU, big intercooler, headers, exhaust, etc.... meanwhile my bro's Viper was relatively stock with a drop-in filter and exhaust.

I think the '98 Viper was rated at 450hp and the '04 is 505hp. If I had to guess, I'd say the Viper stock-to-stock would beat the 996TT.

One caveat though, the 996TT seems to react better to mods than the 993TT did. Therefore, I believe a slightly modded 996TT (ECU flash only) would kick a mildly modded Viper all-to-hell.

Stock to stock, Viper will take the 996TT. I've ran my stage TT with my friend's 2000 stock Viper, We went dead even from 2nd to 6th.

out come of what? Drag race, road race. Actually the TT would probably loose both if stock v stock.

both cars are more fun and capable with the correct upgrades.

Stock for stock, I'll also have to say Viper.
They are definitely beasts when it comes to acceleration.

Sorry to be unclear, i was thinking of just a friendly "see a viper on the road and race him" situation, say about from 50km to 250km ?, what mods needed to spank the viper then? Ecu? Turbo?

I've been a viper fan for a long time, as well as a corvette fan. The viper has similar "rare-ness" of the TT (atleast in my area) and they're a fun car for sure. There are zippy driving aids, other that ABS, so you have to be prepared for that switch. We actually see a fair number of them get damaged at roadcourse events due to this, combined with lack of driver's experience.

I'll buy one at some point, and as with the 996TTs, prices on used examples have really come down!

Another car I've been thinking of for the track is the Exige S240. This little rocket just looks like it would be an absolute blast to have as a track day weapon. It also seems pretty inexpensive to track...

For what it's worth, a good friend on mine loves the viper, he has 5. He ran a stock 03 GT2 from a 10 mph roll (off a stoplight) with his 98 viper (headers+airbox) and lost bad. (said he spun slightly and the gt was gone) Called me at the shop and the next week we did heads, cams, clutch, chip etc etc...that gt2 was sure good for buisness.....

Yeah, you areny likely to win against a SRT-10. I'd say the Viper is halfway between a stock 996 TT and a Stock C6 Z06 (which is a long ways).

Doesnt take nearly as much to change that though. An early GTS or RT-10 is a different story though.

Exhaust and ECU would put you right on his tail if not even.

Exhaust alone will probably only put you 10 cars back instead of 12.
