Synthetic Oil Test:
Search is my firend, I found it.
But I do think with lack of an oil temp guage it's at least crucial that we have the best possible oil in the engine.

(I have nothing to do with the vendor...it is out there 5w-40, right?) Right now, at my Advanced Autoparts, 0w-40 M1 is 6.50 a qt. That is 26 a gallon. So, M1 0w-40 by the quart is cheaper than that Delvac...it it that much better?

Thanks.
Delvac = 118 in the link.
My math: 6.5 per quart. 26 per gallon. 104 for 4 gallons.
118>104. Ignoring shipping, tax, etc. Not sure of your point.

Jeff, You're on Kevin's board. Go over and read the report from Doug, the engineer about the changes to mobil1 last year. Apparently they changed the formula for the US domestic market ont he over the counter mobil1.

Re-read it.
In the end, probably worth 10 more bucks per 16 gallons...assuming 5w-40 is as good as 0w-40 for our engines..... I listen to Kevin on engines. I must admit, the load on trucks and such is so different, that it is not completely clear to me that anyone other than Porsche can tell us what is best.....and for them it is all about risks to warranty and reputation (sales)......
Mike, thanks for putting this up. I am probably going to switch.
Basically, 0w-40 when our cars were made is what Porsche wanted us to use.....the rest is to be taken as best we can...if 0w-40 is different, then this delvac seems like a better solution as it is more close to what "was intended." Porsche probably cannot "unrecommend" a Mobil 1 product lightly....
