Failure notice?

Hi guys

I get in the GT2 tonight and when I start her up I get a warning..... Failure notice with a picture of an Oil can.

I then stop the engine and start her again and no warnings at all.

I then drove the car for about 15 mins until the oil had warmed up and checked the oil level.

It was reading 1 bar over the top level and was topped up by Porsche main dealer on Saturday when in for some work.

any thoughts? why would they over fill the oil? and can it cause damage?

Thanks very much!

You can damage seals and oil lines like that... I'd take it in or drain some out.

Thanks again for a speedy reply Mike.

Would anything else cause the failiure/ fault to show on the dash?

I called Porsche and they said... 'Oh really? well it wont hurt the car'

Dang it's time to find a new dealer.

It's well known that overfilling can cause damage.

You really need the excess out... If it was high enough for that code to kick, it's pretty darned high, and anything over 1/2 quart would be to much in my book. Take it in and demand they drain the oil and do a refill...
