Color matching new bumper

I am wanting to do the gt2 front bumper (all OEM parts, though I know it is more involved) but was wanting to hear experience from others who have swapped front ends. Are you able to just paint the bumper off the car or did the body shop need to blend the new bumper in with the rest of the car. I have never had great experience with body shops, maybe I'm too **** but I always seem to find some small amounts of overspray in the fenderwells or behind the front bumper, etc. etc. Appreciate any advice.

What color? The darker it is the easier to match. My black one needed just the bumper painted.

The car is artic silver so I wasn't sure if that would be an easy color to match or not. Also, I'd love a complete gt2 parts list if anyone has one

The color is easy to match, unless your paint had faded considerably. Since yours is silver, it should be no problem. The paint code is on a sticker on the underside of the front trunk lid.

You should NEVER have overspray anywhere. Your bumper should be painted off the car, dried, and then installed. I recently had my rear bumper redone because of some knucklehead that scraped it with his car, and you can't tell it's not the original paint.

Just make sure that your body shop does a lot of porsches. The one I went to does all of the porsche/bmw's from my local dealer. They won't do any aftermarket parts due to fitment issues. Also, the conversion of the OEM GT2 bumper isnt easy, so I'd find someone whose done one before.

Thank you for the info, that is very helpful! I agree with you about never having overspray but in the past, not knowing which body shops are good and which are not, I have had bad experiences. I guess I should ask the guys in the bay area who is good and go from there. Thanks again

Good luck.
Most body shops SUCK.
Doesn't matter if they ''do a lot of porsches.''
Don't let them 'blend' it.

Sharkwerks huh? Thats good to know, I was planning to have other work done there so that would make it much easier! Oh and I agree, most body shops do suck, I can spot 99% of work done by most shops in this area at first glance. I think a good body shop should do the job to the point you cannot detect it has been repaired.
