Modding the rear bumper, has it been done ?

As you guys know, our US spec bumpers have the ugly things bumperrets (sp).. and if we remove them, theirs 2 holes, one in each side. So randomly today, i thought about covering up the stock holes where each exhaust ( left and right) with something like caps, so they can be removed and go back stock, but of courses painted body color.

And then re-routing the exhaust pipes to come through each hole form the bumperrets.

This, i think will enable us 996 guys to run some pretty awesome CF diffusers ( which i already have a tunner wokring on) like the 997 boys

What are your initial thoughts ?

p.s. hahaha my MS paint skills suck

That is exactly where we are headed. The attached picture shows crude indications of where my rear diffuser will locate with exhaust right and left of the license plate area. The stock exhaust ports will be filled in accordingly. I will post a progress photo tomorrow.

Very cool !!!

Are you going to fill the holes of the stock exhaust up ? if so what material is your body shop going to use ?

Also, any pictures of the rear diffuser you have in mind ? and by any chance will there be more then 1 copy ?

Thanks!

Enrique

Enrique-

Here are progress pics from today to give you an idea of where we are headed. You need to know that in order to have an effective rear diffuser you also need to use a FULL front to rear undertray. I will post pics of my undertray as soon as the parts come in from Germany. But you can see from the pics how the exhaust will work. From the top of the cutout down to within 3" of the bottom of the bumper will be a custom fabricated SS screen that will be powder coated black. The exhaust will be trimmed with 1/2" SS bezels. I will keep you updated as it proceeds.
