Seat memory with key

Is there a way to reprogram the computer to keep the seat at Memory position 1 without going to the dealer? I purchased the car used and I have set Mem 1 for my preference, but when I unlock the car with the key it always adjusts to some crazy position.

Thanks

Read the manual. I think it involves holding the M+1+Open Lock Key on your FOB.

BTW Thanks for the heads up on the M+1+unlock button. I'll give it a try.

LOL. Unless you have that in writing, or your dealer really cares for you. Good luck with that.

Deals with dealers is like trying to buy a rolex from a street vendor. They just want money and their full of ****.

I had the same problem with mine the previous owner was 6ft 4 and the seat kept going right back. The manual told me to hold M and whichever button at the same time which does hold it in memory but if you want it to operate with the key you need to hold M and the key symbol. Apparently you can program up to 4 remotes this way it just has to be the one that is in the ignition when you push the buttons! Hope this works for you.
Any other burning manual questions feel free to ask.

I believe you hold the key button in the car + m2 for at least 5 seconds to clear it out. Then set your seat and mirrors to desired positions and then press the M button and the key button and hold to memorize. You should be using the key you want memorized in the ignition and in the on position when all of this is going on. I just did this the other day so I'm pretty sure this is right. I'll go and check the manual when I have a chance, if it is wrong I'll correct it. But try this first in the mean time.

Ry

How about for pre-key-button?

I am also waiting on the owners' manual to be delivered upon a recent purchase of an '01. Everything online that I have seen is for the cars with a key button. Mine does not have that, but apparently has the capability of storing a seat position setting to the remote (I know this since it always resets to the prior owner's position when I unlock the car).

It's turned into somewhat of an annoying game to try to "catch" the seat before it has reset too far by hitting one of the other memory numbers.

Does anyone know how to program a seat position to a remote in the cars with just the M, 1, 2, and 3 buttons (no key button)?

Thanks.

Yeah... those instructions are all I have been able to come up with here, over at Rennlist, and via google.

What if you have a third seat memory position ("3") instead of the "key" button? Like this... http://www.ukcar.com/road_tests/pors...-elec-seat.jpg

Thanks. - Justin

Is it possible one of them is for the key? Just a thought.

Maybe. I have tried the "key"-button instructions a couple times supplanting the various buttons in various patterns to no avail. I didn't have this issue with the 996 C4 Cab I replaced. Odd one, for sure. I have also tried iterations of the other cars I am familiar with (Land Rover, BMW, Benz, Jag, etc.)... no dice. Oh well. Maybe my dealer will actually come through for me with an owners' manual for the 2001.

Thanks again! - Justin

good luck! Have you tried putting the car in "reverse" gear before programming?

Tried and failed. :-)

I appreciate you trying to give me a hand here. Nice ride, btw! When I am out in SF for the Oracle conference I'll keep an eye out. ;-)
