Does a GT2 Bumper fit on a 01 996 turbo?
im a new to the Porsche scene and i just aquired a 01 996 turbo and wanted to change the bumper to a oem 02 gt2 bumper. My question, is it a direct bolt on?

An OEM GT2 bumper will need radiator relocation to fit ....I think I have seen estimates of around 4K to do the whole GT2 conversion on a turbo to OEM specs with correct Porsche parts.

I have the PET parts catalog on disc that shows the exploded view of the GT2 front end and there are many parts needed. I have no clue what parts can or cannot be reused in the conversion. You best bet is to call someone like Suncoast or Sunset Porsche since they specialize in Porsche parts sales at little over dealer cost. They will not rape you on parts. They are generally speaking the cheapest out there and they are knowledgeable. Just tell them what you have and they will tell you what you need......good luck
You can buy an aftermarket that needs little no no modifactions,
Yes it will fit on an TT...the same on as the GT2.
They are the same car.

I wanted to do an aftermarket gt2 front bumper.. My indy mechanic who has never steered me wrong wouldn't do it. He claims the aftermarket ones (which are $1500 or so) are fiberglass and won't have the same finished quality as the Porsche parts which are kevlar/pvc or whatever they are. He would only let me do it with OEM parts and the entire conversion was going to be around $5k with parts after moving the radiators and plumbing.
You need to see one yourself and then make that choice, I too am a big fan off OEM, but that didn't stop me from going with some Gemballa and tech-art parts. There really are some smaller guys out that that make a good product. Misha for example makes good quality aftermarket parts, I had a GT2 wing by Misha on my C2. Don't let your indy steer you wrong, maybe he is un aware of the quality thats out there now....and maybe he id afraid of things he doesn't know.
the problem with the aftermarket GT2 front isnt the fitment/materials..it's the fact that you lose all of the proper air flow. Because you're not moving the center radiator etc., you're not gaining the advantage of the OEM GT2 aerodynamics, and you're losing the effectiveness of the stocker.
I have a OEM GT2 front bumper and did not purchase the brackets to relocate the radiator. It has been on for 2 years and I have not had any problems. Air temps have not increased at all. No adverse effects. It was a simple bolt-on.

What color is your turbo? I have a OEM GT2 front bumper and proper radiator ducts and brackets, Im currently selling my car, and if it does not sell in a week I will be parting. Maybe we can do a swap plus cash. Im in socal and my car is jet black.
I did the GT2 nose conversion to my car over three years ago. I used all OEM parts. It's not for the faint of heart but it is doable.
The turbo uses a dual loop cooling circuit to the three radiators where as the GT2 uses a single loop from right radiator to center then to left. In addition, the center rad uses different mounting brackets. I found it interesting that one of the GT2's brackets was identical to the turbo's, but only used upside down! I used a combination of GT2 hoses that I modified to keep the turbos dual coolant circuit instead of changing the center metal coolant pipes to the GT2's pipes. I don't remember the costs.
I spent hours doing the conversion myself so I didn't have that expense, but I did it right the first time and it's paid off. I've had no problems at all.
